Reception place- Do I need to tell the school directly or not?

We’ve been offered a reception place at our first-choice state primary, but we’ve decided to go with an independent school instead. I’ve declined the place via the local authority website—do I also need to email the school directly to let them know we won’t be taking up the place, or is declining online enough? Don’t want to cause extra admin if it’s not necessary, but also don’t want to be rude or hold up the process for someone else; I do keep getting emails from the state school still.

Thanks in advance!

Declining online should be enough.

If they are still sending you emails then reply and remind them that your child has a place elsewhere so they need to delete your contact information from their records.
