Am I applying to too many central London preps or not?

My DD has submitted applications to the following central London prep for 2027 reception entry. Have not received any results yet. I reckon in the unlikely case where no school can offer a place, there are plenty other preps (such as Thomas or Kensington Wade or HillHouse) available as a fallback. Am I right?

  • Pembridge Hall
  • Ecole Jeannine Manuel (petite section)
  • Glendower
  • Kensington Prep
  • Bute House
  • Newton Prep

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

They are private schools, right?
You can apply to any number and accept the offered placement you like best.

I don't think it's too many, especially where ones like Bute House are just plain ballot. I think it's good to apply to as many as possible!

Of your list we're applying to Pembridge Hall and Bute House.
Can I ask which location you're living in. We are in Hammersmith and I'm feeling a bit nervous about the journeying..

how old is your dd?? or are you a grandparent and discussing your dd? because a 3 year old can't apply on their own (even if spectacularly brilliant).
what are the timelines for acceptance?
at some point though it gets very expensive with each application requesting a deposit. you need to do your research to gauge if indeed you do have a chance at being accepted (some schools are very oversubscribed).
london though as a lot of international movement so spots do open up.

OP stated her daughter is going into Reception so age already known.

@Minuethippo just teasing as the op says “dd has submitted applications” when really it’s the parents who submit the applications. The dd would be a toddler and totally unable to submit such things.

I think that it is enough, and a good spread from ultra-selective through to non-selective. Only 3 will assess your child which is a good number.

They are very spread out across London though...curious as to where you are based that these all make sense!

Is there a reason you're not considering Falkner House?

NebulousWhistler · 17/02/2025 21:06

I’d be taking Ken Prep out of your list (read the Ken Prep vs Putney juniors thread) and replacing it with Falkner.

Sunchaser05 · 17/04/2025 09:51

I wouldn’t assume all Thomas’s locations will have spaces, Battersea and Kensington can be quite in demand esp with the new buildings and the college. I know people who didn’t get in
