London primary schools-proof of child letters??

Hello

so today is the cut off day to the school applications-
to my understanding we just had to send proof of our most recent council tax bill- my fault for not reading further on and seeing we have to prove our child lives at our address.
We don't recieve child benefits so they say 2 letters from: a Gp, dentist, opticians etC
as we are only recently in our new flat we don't have any of these letters expositions g and nobody- the Gp included wanted to help write a letter for us with our address on- they said maybe in ten days

has anyone ever submitted an application with missing forms and then got in contact like a week past submissions with your proof of address? Feel pretty stuck

I was a similar situation when I applied for DD’s place; we didn’t receive benefits and had just moved in so hadn’t registered with a GP and dentist. I got her nursery to write a letter confirming her attendance with our new address on and that was accepted.
Have you called admissions and asked for their advice?

Ah thank you for this
I've attached her nursery invoice so far but it's just the second piece of proof proving difficult- dentist also won't supply one!
You are right though, better call them and see what they say

I did - it was a few years ago now. Mine was for DC2 and it was entirely my mistake as I had applied for DC1 the year before but the evidence requirements had changed and I didn't check properly.

I just got an email asking me to provide the missing evidence, which I did and it was fine. This was for a London borough.

Just make sure you get the application in with everything you have. Hopefully you will be able to speak to someone today to confirm.

We applied in London last year and I don't think we had any of those - we'd only moved house a week or two before the deadline and hadn't swapped over all of our addresses. We did have a council tax bill. I'm pretty sure we needed some more docs when we accepted the school place. But don't take what I say as gospel!

Ah perfect this is reassuring!

Do we specifically need proof our child lives at our address or is any bill that is addressed in the parents name with the address sufficient?

It says this on my portal:

In order to verify your address, we will check the Council Tax Reference number provided on your application form. You will also need to attach a scanned copy of one of the following documents to your application (or at least TWO documents if you cannot provide your Council Tax Reference number):

  • a recent (within 3 months) utility bill;
  • tax credit documentation;
  • your most recent rent statement, mortgage account statement or tenancy agreement;
  • a recent bank statement showing child benefit payments.

And then it says about evidence to prove a Child's DOB.

Not anywhere does it say I have to prove the child lives at the address with the parents... unless I am missing something?!

They're all different I think.

My acknowledgement email specifically says "please do not attach any documents to your application at this point unless this is to support a Medical Social application, or to confirm your child's Looked After status...We will contact you if we require further information or need proof of address."

Then it reiterates not to attach proof of address and that the LA will verify our address using council tax records. If that doesn't work they'll then then get in touch for further details.
