My ds is at a bad school but I can't move him

My ds is 7 and currently in year 3.
He's been at the same school since he's started. In the past few years it's gone downhill rapidly. The headteacher quit unexpectedly mid year and the replacement has not made any improvements.
Children are not set any "homework " no reading at home or spellings.
At the start of the year we were invited to see the children learning. In my ds class the children ran riot and did not listen to the teacher.
The teacher stood awkwardly and giggled.
Ds has a few friends who are very boisterous and have hit him a few times.
It's all so horrible!

Problem is no local school have any spaces currently. I desperately want to move him.

Is there anything I can do?

You could contact the governing body for a start and ask them what plans are being made to improve the school and why the behaviour policy isn’t being implemented. You could also contact the LEA with your concerns. But first and foremost, you should ask for a meeting with the teacher and HT

I take it you on the waiting list for another school? I suppose you can either consider moving to a school further away or stay at current school and focus on ensuring your child is not falling behind by tutoring at home.
