What have your schools been doing to prepare your children for school?

Quite a positive post as am super impressed with my son's new school. He's 4 and starting next week. They've sent all the kids a card in the post welcoming them to their class, and have been uploading daily stories read by their teachers to YouTube. They've also sent them all a pack to do with their parents so they can write down a topic they'd like to learn about, what they already know and why the topic excites them, then the date that it's their day to explore their topic with their class. Before school ended last term they did a parent meetup and a picnic in the school grounds for new starters. Just feels very lovely and welcoming.

I'm feeling really quite content and not anxious at all about him starting school, like I was a few weeks ago.

Has your child's school done anything nice to prepare them?

That sounds lovely. My son is in Bees class and when he went for his visit the year sixes had all made a bee each out of wool for the reception class children which I thought was a brilliant idea. I have received an email today reminding us of the timings for next week and how much the teachers are looking forward to the new year. I still can't believe it's that time already!
