Hello, will be new to school this September...

What type of shorts do you usually get for PE, are the stipy ones ok or cotton better?

Sorry I mean stripy PE shorts or normal cotton shorts

The ones that cost about £5 for a pack of 2 in the supermarket. That's what pretty much all kids wear.

Cotton ones from Sainsburys or M&S get my vote, Sainsburys cost similar to what a PP has quoted, possibly less if can time with 20% discount

I prefer the cotton cycling shorts. Dd 's new school has the stripy kind in the uniform list and they get sweaty and don't fit well

Singleandproud · 30/04/2023 08:45

DDs primary and secondary school only have the stripey ones. Some schools don't allow cycling shorts so double check.

Pjmasksonrepeat · 30/04/2023 17:24

Does it have a photo on the school website under uniform?

I teach and normally see infants in cotton shorts. Girls tend to have cycling shorts.

tadpolecity · 02/05/2023 08:02

At our school it's any

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 02/05/2023 08:04

Stripy shorts, usually get 2 pairs in a pack.

cwanne · 02/05/2023 10:19

Stripy shorts for both ds and dd.

Have had the stripey ones. My eldest was fine until year 2 when she decided she hated then so have replaced with skorts which seems to be the preferred girl option for the older ones.

DC's school has school logo heavy cotton shirts. Cost £5 but come up huge and last for 2 or 3 years a size plus PTA sell second hand for a quid.
Look a bit old fashioned but wash well and don't tear unlike the 'any black logo free tracksuit bottoms and jumper' from Tesco that I've replaced 4 times. No idea why DS2 insists on crawling round the playground
