...to an event at a nearby school.

Apparently, several parents who happened to be around ferried the children there in groups in their own cars.

What do you think?

I was a bit onthe fence on this one until I realized that we were talking about year 5 children.

I would certainly have trusted my dd when she was in year 5 to do up her seat belts without an adult reminding her. Most year 5 children are Ok without booster seats too.

I think I would have been with the OP if the children had been younger, but I don't see a problem with 9 and 10 year olds.

Thanks MissPointipine. Seeker, it's not so much the seats and belts. It's not knowing WHO has been given responsibility for our children. Yes, I agree, it was very kind of these parents, whose own children weren't involved in the trip to help out in an emergency and 9/10 there is no issue with safety etc. I guess I'm so on edge about this because I know of certain parents at our school I wouldn't ever agree to taking my children in their car for all manner of reasons. I'm not neurotic, I'm not paranoid. We're not talking PFB. I'm usually level headed and pragmatic, but there are issues with some parents I'm not going to go into here. The school isn't to know about some of those issues. TO everyone who's posted on here, I honestly have considered all your posts and yes, I've changed my opinon in some ways. But I still feel, and will never change my mind, that we should know who is taking our kids out of school and who is driving them around. I know you don't all share that opinion, but lets beg to differ. I'd also like to apologise to nocoach for hijacking her (his?) thread, but they did disappear at a time when the topic hit a nerve with me.
