Two poems by dd2:

The Cheer Up Song

I'm the pineapple on the pizza
The chocolate in the fountain
I'm the butter on the toast
I'm a pepperoni mountain

I'm the teeth in the crocodile
I'm the lion's pride
I'm the cheetah on the plain
And all the animals worldwide

I'm the glimmer in the stars
The bells on the sleigh
I'm the most perfect
In every single way.

The Magic Box

I will put in the box

The first flower of summer
Freedom for everyone
And the chuckles of a baby

I will put in the box
A deer with a grumbling belly
A sip of the purest water from a green lake
The wing of a beautiful bird

I will put in the box
Ten blue wishes spoken in Egyptian
The last tusk of a woolly mammoth
And the first autumn breeze rustling in the trees

I will put in the box
A yellow night and some blue grass
A lawyer at the circus
And a clown at court

My box is fashioned with diamonds and rubies and pearls
With glitter on the lid and snake skin on the corners
Its hinges are made of a baby's giggles

I shall float in my box
All over the world and come ashore on the moon
The colour of the creamiest cream.

Aaah.

How old? Don't think my poetry would be that good at 38 though.

drivinmecrazy · 31/01/2008 21:37

whilst we are on the subject of poetry, maybe you can shed some light on my 7 yo's poem to me:

I LOVE YOU

I love you in the daytime
I love you all day through
I love you in the night time
Until the whole world's gone through

What does the last line mean???

yogabird · 31/01/2008 21:37

Miaou · 31/01/2008 21:39

They are excellent- she has a real gift for language. My boys' school does the Kit Wright 'The Magic Box' unit too, and it always produces wonderful imagery from the children.

Miaou · 01/02/2008 12:01

hunker thank you! Will email you back in a mo

Thank you for the compliments you guys!

Fab.

seeker · 01/02/2008 18:56

Oh I love the Magic Box poems - they give children such freedom to fly their imaginations! Your dd's one is fabulous, Miaou!

MummyPenguin · 01/02/2008 19:15

Bloody Hell. 9yo. Well impressed.

Smithagain · 01/02/2008 19:40

Miaou, I remember you posting a story your DD wrote a few weeks ago. It sent shivers down my spine - and so did those poems. She is really, really talented and I hope she keeps wanting to write because I will be looking forward to reading her first book!!

WowOoo · 01/02/2008 19:44

Fab, what a little start. Would print and frame them myself.

Miaou · 02/02/2008 10:23

LOL Smithagain, the story was by dd1, these poems are by dd2 - I guess they are both pretty talented!!
