Hi, we're looking at a house midway between these two schools and I'm arranging to see both of them but would welcome any input.

The Ofsted for both is good though Oldfield Brow says they have a high intake throughout each school year which made me wonder why.

Also - we are not church goers and in fact DD not even christened (heathens that we are!) so would this mean no chance of getting in the chuch school?

Any comments appreciated! Cheers.

Hi

Both schools have a good reputation but I have met people with children at Oldfield brow who are extremely happy with it. Park Road also is very good. My dd attends Bowdon prep

Great, thanks for that. I'm a bit worried that it's also close to Navigation Road but I'm seeing Oldfield tomorrow and will hopefully get a catchment list. Will look at Park Road too.

Thanks!

Rezmum - I am thinking on registering my dd at bowdon prep so would welcome your thoughts! Also any advice on waiting lists/fees would be useful
Thanks very much

Hi

I would absolutley recommed it. Lovely school very traditional in teaching and ethos. It is academic but all the teachers are very caring. My dd started in K2 which is 3yrs old ie year before reception and was reading within 5 weeks. i am not sure about waiting lists as dd's was small (11) to start with (now 2 classes of11)but year below seems quite large. fees are about £1500 per term incl books can be paid in 10 instalments or termly with a rebate of £90 if paid in first few weeks.

Honestly, it is an amazing school.

Thanks rezmum that's a great help - always helpful to get an 'inside'opinion as I don't know any mums in the area!
