Reviews on Primary Schools in Urmston/Stretford area

Hi, We will be moving to Urmston shortly with a 8 year old boy. We are trying find the best fit school for him. I understand that a lot of schools are over subscribed. Since the Trafford admissions allow up to 5 choices, I was looking to evaluate my best 5 options. I was thinking of Davyhulme Primary School as the first choice though the chances are less. Do any of the children go to Highfield Primary, Barton Clove Primary, Orchards Primary, Kingsway Primary or Urmston Primary schools? If so, your feedback will help me. Also, any other school which I have not listed and within a mile of Moss Vale Road will do. Please suggest.

From moss vale road you should be in catchment for:
Highfield should be a good option. I thought it was OK but I didn't want to send my dc there so put it as my 5th choice.
St Hugh of Lincoln which is a good school.
Barton Clough is not good.
Davyhulme seems a nice school. Are you not in catchment or is it just you are moving mid year so can't get a space?

Other schools:
It was ages since I looked around Urmston (infants) a nice school but very big and a bit crowded as they haven't the space to expand. English martyrs also centre of Urmston is a tiny Catholic school and has a lovely ethos.

Moss Park in Stretford is good but you are probably out of catchment. I hear our lady of the Rosary is good. Lots of Catholic schools in the area.

Never heard of orchards, don't think much of kingsway park, it's a bit grim. Friends go to Woodhouse which is lovely.

Thanks a lot for your response. Trafford school admissions say my catchment is Barton Clove. I haven't had good review from anybody on that school. I am considering Highfield as my second choice after Davyhulme. Any reviews on Urmston Primary School?

Which have spaces?

None of the good schools have spaces :)
The only point I am thinking is the schools which are not heavily oversubscribed at least have chances. Other schools will keep us on waiting list for ever.
