Hi guys, we are moving from London to Beaconsfield and currently looking for schools for my 4 year and 7 year old. Closest school is St Marys and All saints and wondering if anyone's kids go there and your opinion on the school?

It’s near Sainsburys and is surrounded by a council estate. It is Outstanding - 2008 full report! It’s not favoured by monied folk in Beaconsfield but provides well for the DC. As it’s not been inspected recently it’s difficult to judge how good it is right now.

As is becoming the norm, it seems too CofE pushy. It is Voluntary Aided. Have you asked if they have any space? If you want a YR space in Sept, have they got one as you are a late applicant? Or space for y3? Bucks schools are very full! Bucks CC do updated lists on schools with vacancies on their web site. Also, are you in catchment? If they have vacancies it won’t matter, if they operate a waiting list it might.

thank you @TizerorFizz for your reply. We are visiting Independent schools for my Y3 as we understand we will struggle to get a place at state school and its prob worth keeping her going on the independent system (as they are both going to independent school in London) until 11 exams and apply for grammar schools. we will be moving to new town of Beaconsfield so the closest schools are St Mary's and all saints, Butlers court and Hotspurs.

I am quite surprised to hear about the council flats in Beaconsfield (that tells you how little i know of the area). Have you heard much about Butlers Court?

There is one block of council flats (that I know of) but the school initially served the council estate around it. It’s fairly obvious when you visit. Of course, in Beaconsfield, it’s just a stone’s throw from multi £million houses. But yes, there are council houses with many sold off though!

I would look at Butlers Court and Holtspur and see what you think. These schools do fluctuate because lots of DC in Beaconsfield are in private schools. As in many areas, there a good village schools. I would see where has vacancies because that might be a very short list. Both the other Beaconsfield schools you mention are very much smaller than they used to be. Holtspur has a very recent inspection. BC was inspected in 2018 so that’s reasonably informative. Both of these schools are good and I would look around as many as possible when you visit.

thank you @TizerorFizz for your input. I asked St Marys for a visit but was told to wait for the Bucks council to let us know which schools has vacancies. I guess when you leave things this late, I don't have much choice.
