Hi there, we are relocating to Tonbridge and looking for Primary school for our kids, now we got place for both Stocks Green and Royal Rise, anyone could comment on these two schools? Are the teachers friendly? Do they have good training on 11+ test? I saw from Locrating that Royal Rise was stronger in academic but Stocks Green was better in terms of the school environment. So I want to hear more from experienced parents. Thanks very much!

Changed username due to not wanting location to out me on here!

I’ve lived in Tonbridge most of my life. My first thought to this question would be whereabouts in Tonbridge are you? And do you have your own transport? Stocks Green is in Hildenborough which I realise you would already know, if you live in south Tonbridge without a car that won’t be a good option.

Gut instinct honestly would be to take the place at Stocks Green. Royal Rise used to be St Stephens and didn’t have a good reputation, after several Ofsted failures it took the classic route of being taken over by an academy, I can’t say what it’s like now as have no connection to it, only general town reputation which isn’t the best. It’s not the school people fight for in this town!

I know people who have used Stocks Green and have been very happy with it, only a slight dissatisfaction with quality of maths teaching once upon a time, but those children are now in secondary school so this may well have improved. A very happy school from what I’ve been told. The children I know went on to grammar schools.

Sorry, I know I’m not actually directly involved with either but it’s just my two cents :)

Are you waiting to hear from any other schools?

Thanks very much for your sharing and this is really helpful for a new comer like meSmileSmile. We plan to drive the kids to school everyday so the distance should not be a problem, and I tend to choose Stocks Green after hearing the information consolidated from different users as well, it sounds to be a very happy and high quality schoolGrin
