Missed deadline for opting in for hot school dinners - any hope?

Just found out I've missed the deadline for opting in for hot school dinners for my DC who starts reception in couple of weeks. My fault entirely but she was accepted late into the school and I missed the admin. Does anyone know if late opt ins can be done?

I suggest you contact the school office to ask. I would hope they would try to be accommodating for you as a later entrant than most of the new children.

At our school, choices should be in by tomorrow, but changes can be made via the school office with 48 hours notice.

Thanks CarrotCakeMuffins. I've emailed the school but they're all on holiday. I'll follow up next week when they're back and keep everything crossed in the mean time. Feel so stupid for missing it.

Does the school website say who their suppliers of hot meals are? If so make contact with the company and order that way.

If not then at the most your child should only miss the first week of hot meals , you should be able to sort our meals once school is back.

I work in a school office and rang all my families on Friday to remind them to order their meals , as I know how easy it is to slip your mind .

Our school says a week in advance but you can actually email until 10am on the day of the meal to order it, so I wouldn't panic yet.

Ours don't have any kind of deadline, you choose on the day whether to send your child in with a packed lunch or have a school dinner.

I can't imagine your child will never be able to have a school dinner, and actually she's entitled to free meals, so they surely can't stop you having one!

Our school just need a week’s notice to opt in or out. I’d be very surprised if nothing could be done.
Ring the school when they open (many will be running inset days before kids come back) and ask very nicely.

It shouldn’t be an issue. Mine change from school dinners to packed lunches every two minutes
