Primary schools in lewes - no idea where to start! Hoping for somewhere friendly and welcoming to new kids?

Narrowing down our move and really like Lewes. I will have one in-year application primary school child. I know that there may not necessary be any space at the school I like best (not that I like any best at the moment as I haven’t started looking!) but hoping for some advice!

Which schools stand out to you as nice and friendly and welcoming? I am feeling quite guilty about moving dc from much-loved school. His current school does a lot of forest school and he loves that. So that would be pretty ideal too!

Looking at state and possibly private although not hot-housing-type-schools.

Any advice would be so very welcome!

I think your first port of call needs to be what schools have available places. No point fixating on a school if it is full with a waiting list as long as your arm. Contact the local authority and ask which schools have a place in the year you need and go from there.

There’s a group called Lewes Present on Facebook. I think you’d do well asking there. Lewesians are pretty opinionated!
