Our spellings include days of the week, months of the year, common words misspelt such as 'when' 'called' 'came'. I guess this term has been about bringing the classes back up to speed from the months they missed in Y1.

Glittered
Came
When
There
Here
Your
Said
Roared
Haul
etc

To be honest I thought they were hard but she gets 10/12 or 12/12 a week

Todayisgood2 · 08/11/2020 19:04

Everyone, everywhere, everybody, continued, staggered, statue, someone, yourself, rescue, group

BlueCrispsareSandV · 09/11/2020 15:46

Ours are individual for the child, so DD is getting words like "My" and "Are" at the moment.

Snuzzle · 10/11/2020 08:22

Ours this week are the r sound spelt wr so words like wrong, wrapped, wrecked and wrestle
Previous weeks have been the same - a sound spelt with 2 letters

RandomUsernameHere · 10/11/2020 23:20

JessicaPeach · 10/11/2020 23:31

This week we've had should, would, sure, eye, improve, water, busy and one other that I can't remember

NullcovoidNovember · 11/11/2020 18:37

Look up spelling shed year 2 words.

Tidypidy · 11/11/2020 18:51

Google national curriculum English framework. Then look for the Year 2 spelling appendix. This is what Year 2 need to know by the end of the year however many schools are revising spellings from previous year groups to try to plug gaps caused by lockdown 1.
Some schools give spellings out to groups whereas others give individual lists based on children's work or assessments. It will vary a lot between schools. If you're unsure then ask the class teacher.

Manteo · 16/11/2020 14:09

The spellings my daughter's school sends out aren't differentiated and are easier than most of these. Would anyone bring this up with the teacher at the risk of being 'that parent' or should I just carry on doing extra at home? They get 4 a week and she can already spell them and gets 4/4 every week.

Benjispruce2 · 16/11/2020 17:00

They will be the National Curriculum spellings for Y2.

Benjispruce2 · 16/11/2020 17:03

We have 10 per week. Some children that struggle or rather children of parents that think their children are struggling get 5. However after a few weeks those children normally start to complete 10. It’s a spelling pattern or rule that they learn rather than the importance of the word.

If your school follow the national curriculum they're largely prescribed. Or at least the spelling rules to be taught are.

FourPlatinumRings · 16/11/2020 17:06

If you don't fancy clicking the link, just Google 'National curriculum spelling appendix'.

drspouse · 19/11/2020 21:41

My DD is getting individual spellings (after getting none right so far this term).

Lisaq01 · 21/11/2020 12:50

This week she has split digraphs UR IR
Last week it was EW sound

She gets words like hurt, Church, bird.....
