Scott’s Park of Parish Church of England Bromley?

Hey!!
I’m wondering if anyone can help me. I’m approaching the deadline for my daughters reception intake this September and I really can’t choose what to put down as my first preference. Does anyone have children at either Scott’s Park or Parish and can recommend which they prefer?

Not from the area but I’ve just looked the schools up. One is a faith school and the other isn’t. Are you eligible and do you have a preference for a faith/non-faith? If you liked both equally when you visited, maybe go with the more convenient one?

Mine are at St Joseph’s so slap in the middle. I didn't like Parish at all when we looked around, and was very pleasantly surprised by Scott's Park. If we weren't RC I would have gone for SP.

Thank you!! Yes, I looked round both and was pretty certain I preferred Scott’s Park but I went back to Parish again on a quieter open day and was surprised by how much I liked it. The reception rooms are really big and they have a nice outdoor area but I couldn’t remember Scott’s park one. I just remember the head teacher was lovely which is a good sign! What weren’t you keen on at Parish? I know we all look for different things for our children, I’m just being indecisive! I think I’ll just outside of catchment area for Parish x

Yes usually I would of preferred non faith but Parish did seem really nice. I think scott’s park is just a bit closer to me and I think it’s more likely I’ll get a place there so maybe should go for that! I just wish I didn’t leave it too late to go and visit it again as they don’t do private visits! Thank you for looking for me xx

inwood Sorry to jump in but what is St Joseph's like, their academic results dont show up as great, but I think it will make my list next year

I don't know about SP but Parish no longer have TAs in class (other than in Reception).
That would be a deal breaker for me.

I assume it's for financial reasons. Maybe worth calling them and asking?

I work in a primary school and know how not having a TA in class impacts on the children - teachers are fantastic, but having another adult in class makes a huge difference.

@OnlyFoolsnMothers we are very very happy with the school. It's hard for a school with a single form intake to be academically stellar, one or two can massively bring the %score down.

The new head has been in place for a couple of years, she's great and results are on the up.

The ethos, friendliness and loveliness of the kids was above results for me. SP and Parish are so huge in comparison.

inwood thank you, really helpful. I havent actually been round the schools, when I do I suspect I will form a similar opinion. I learnt with nurseries that an ofsted report cant give you a full feel for a place.

BTW a friend of mine when round Parish and said they found it so strict to the point of stifling....
