7+ exams for Westminster, King's and St. Pauls

Hello Everyone, my son is writing 7+ exams for Westminster, St.Pauls and KCS this year.
My son is preparing for a while now and struggling in English a lot as of now.
Could someone please provide me more insights on the interview and activity tasks that the kids are asked to participate in and how to ace those bits? How could I prepare my son for these bits?
Thanks a lot.

Any movement on WUS 7+ waitlist?

texarkana · 28/01/2020 19:33

wise words!

Heist · 29/01/2020 11:29

Not sure about WUS and King's waitlist yet - But SPJ waitlist is moving and moving fast. Good luck

Has the SPJ wait list moved for you Heist?

Heist · 29/01/2020 13:30

Yes, SPJ waitlist has moved for my DS.

Superb news. Congratulations!

quitestressed78 · 29/01/2020 14:16

Brilliant news. Very pleased for you. Our sons will be starting together in September 2020.

I just declined a place at KCS via e-mail (with a heavy heart). There was a delay as I was waiting for SPJS to confirm receipt of my deposit (phoned in the end). Hope this brings good news to someone. Sorry it was so near to the deadline.

Heist · 29/01/2020 15:11

For us, it was such a tough decision to choose between KCS and SPJ, hardly anything different between these 2 great schools. Eventually, it came down to proximity - we live in Wimbledon, so we have chosen KCS and have accepted a place at KCS.
Thus, had to politely decline SPJ place. Never thought that a day will come, where we will have to decline a place at a school like SPJ. Hope waitlist continues to move for other deserving candidates.
All the best everyone :)

Oh, I thought you were waiting for SPJS. You have definitely made the right decision (even someone at KCS reassured me that I had) when I explained that we would be putting an extra 30 minutes or more on DS's commute and driving though Barnes if we took KCS instead. We loved KCS and it was hard to turn down. Let's hope that these declines go to people who really wanted these schools. Good luck to your DS. As you said, both great schools and nothing between them academically.

Putneyd · 30/01/2020 17:07

Hi all, has anyone heard back from
KCS on the waitlist? As our DS is waitlisted there, we have been waiting to hear back but there has been no feedback yet. I believe KCS also over-offer so wondering if anyone has declined KCS or knows of anyone who has? Just trying to gauge how realistic our chances are.

quitestressed78 · 30/01/2020 17:56

I suggest calling- the registrar seems very friendly.

abc79 · 30/01/2020 17:57

I know for sure that both SPJ and KCS have moved so I would phone KCS for an update? All the best of luck.

abc79 · 30/01/2020 17:59

I meant, both SPJ and KCS lists have moved!

AlexRees · 30/01/2020 18:19

Why do you say that ABC?

Putneyd · 30/01/2020 18:48

Thanks @abc79 but that’s odd as I received an email just now and they’ve mentioned that there has been no movement in the reserve list. Does someone you know who’s on the reserve list at KCS been offered today?

abc79 · 30/01/2020 18:58

That’s what I heard but maybe not true if that’s what they said on the email. We were offered and accepted a place at SPJ. Good luck to your ds.

Heist · 30/01/2020 19:04

I know at least one boy who is planning to decline KCS offer. I am not sure if they have informed this to the school though.

@Putneyd, both Heist and I are referring to 7+, just in case you were talking about 8+?

Putneyd · 30/01/2020 19:17

Thank you @abc79 I am also talking about 7+ and congrats to your DS for SPJ!

Thanks @Heist today noon was the acceptance deadline so they must have conveyed to the school by now? Anyway, hope they haven’t over offered massively. This is such a lo excruciating wait. Apologies for spoiling the mood for those who have already heard good news!

quitestressed78 · 30/01/2020 19:31

Not at all Putneyd. This forum is to help people and not just celebrate offers, which people can do without the help of MN. Good luck to your DS. Some people may simply not have replied in which case the school may need to double check before offering the place. Perhaps phone tomorrow so you have more specific information before a potentially long painful weekend.

abc79 · 30/01/2020 19:52

very well put @quitestressed78, we are all here to help each other. i am thankful for all the advise I have received on MN. I agree, @Putneyd, I would phone the school tomorrow and mention that you are still very interested in a place and waiting. I am sure things will move, as many have mentioned on this thread that they knew people with multiple offers. Best of luck

Putneyd · 30/01/2020 23:47

Many thanks @abc79, that is very kind and most appreciated!
@quitestressed78 thanks for your good wishes, I hope @abc79 ‘s call also helps.
Thanks all, truly appreciate this.

Heist · 31/01/2020 07:24

Totally agree. This thread is for understanding the emotional stress of everyone and helping them out.
@Putneyd yes, last date had passed yesterday. So, by today or Monday schools will definitely have full information around how their waitlist will move. Calling the school will definitely be very helpful.

Good luck to all who are waiting . It’s very agonising. This group is great , thanks for all the support. DS is also on the reserve list for kings .. the uncertainty is driving me mad.
