I was told this when I questioned why they said you only need one set of PE clothes

young primary kids don't sweat, don't see a problem myself.

meandmyflyingmachine · 18/07/2007 17:06

P.E. twice a week - once indoor, once outdoor. PE kit home at every half term. It's fine. Of course it never actually has ds's T shirt in it ALways that of the smallest boy in the class. Which means he is wearing a dress and ds is wearing a crop top, but they survive...

DD only brings home her PE and ballet kit each half term. Never in between. I figure they do very little PE in primary and don't really sweat as such - or DD doesn't - so it doesn't really need it more frequent. DD's PE kit is never dirty or smelly when it comes home anyway/

REBELlatrixlestrange · 18/07/2007 17:18

Same as our school. The lads only started taking it in weekly in Yr3.

Never an issue.

Hulababy · 18/07/2007 17:19

As for frequency of PE. At school DD does PE session once a week and ballet once a week. She does swimming lesson ocne a week out of school, and is always on the go, so no need for me to worry about the amount of exercise she gets at school.

hippiPOTTERami · 18/07/2007 17:42

DC's school does this too. Dd (who will be infant school in Sept) will do PE once a week only, so not so bad. Ds is in Junior School and does PE 3 times a week. I have taken to sneaking into the lobby of his classroom at the end of the day once every two weeks and replacing the t-shirt.

[cd has a twinge of regret for sporty private prep]

Blandmum · 18/07/2007 17:47

my two do games one a week and PE once a week. As games is rugby/football for the boys and hockey for the girls in the winter term, their kit does need to be washed fairly often.

Most small children do not smell of sweat though, as long s they wash fairly often. 'Real' smelly sweat only tends to happen once they get towards puberty.

Blandmum · 18/07/2007 17:48

and each of those sessions is an hour

tiredemma · 18/07/2007 17:50

I have only brought ds's home at the end of each term so far ( just finishing yr one this week)

Will endeavor to do it more though from next term!!

dd's pe kit is gross when she brings it home, she's 15 though and sweats in it numerous times a week bleurgh!!

bookwormtailmum · 18/07/2007 18:00

This is the practice at my dd's school but there is nothing to stop you from taking it home more often - they're all stored in the corridor on their pegs. I count it as a bonus if we remember to take home her school cardigan or drink flask!

Never had PE kit in my day in Infants - we had to do PE in our knickers and vests (same school). Nowadays that'd be a case for social services to intervene .

FioFioJane · 18/07/2007 18:02

the op is a snob

cd this is pretty normal

dd's only send it home ONCE A YEAR
