Settling in a new school after moving due to bullying

DD1 (yr 2) has been bullied and we are moving her and DD2 (Reception) to a new school to give her a fresh start.

Does anyone have any tips for settling her in or success stories about moving for a similar reason?

She’s lost all her self confidence and self esteem and it’s heartbreaking to see the change in her. I just want my bubbly bouncy little girl back.

Your poor DD. I assume the new school are aware of the situation? I would arrange a meeting with her new class teacher to discuss her lack of confidence and come up with some strategies together. Perhaps after a few weeks you could find out from the class teacher who she's been getting on well with or who is a good personality fit and invite that child for a playdate.

For what it's worth a new boy joined DS's class after bullying in his previous school and has really thrived. Lots of friends, he got up in their class assembly and seemed confident.

The new school are indeed aware of the situation and I was heartened by the way the new head addressed DD rather than me and explained their bullying policy to her and really seemed to draw her out of herself. We left with DD smiling for the first time in weeks but she’s miserable at the thought of attending her current school until it’s time to move.
