They are not on the website yet, but does anybody know how Bute did this year for +11 results? Thanks.

Hey, I am sure they will be as good as always with around 30/40% for SPGS.

Knightsbridge · 15/03/2019 13:52

Lolakath19, that's what I would normally think too, but it seems that Falkner House and Glendower both had extremely strong performance, especially with SPGS, they both have already published their results. This would suggest to me that some school must have had a weak showing this year.

Kensington Prep has had at least 7 offers as well.
I just think that just means that less girls are coming from state school or pre prep outside the area this year.

Which school is your daughter attending?

Knightsbridge · 15/03/2019 17:50

wow, good for K-Prep, that's about 18%, very good result. typically they are around 10% going to SPGS. given the backlash about privileged schools, i doubt SPGS decided to take a lot fewer state school kids.

I don’t think there are some rules set. Maybe some schools that generally send one or two did not have any this year. Bute is generally the main provider to SPGS and I think it will still be the case this year.

Jsku · 15/03/2019 21:48

One can’t look and draw conclusions or extrapolate from one year data point.
In the last several years Bute SPSG admissions ranged from 13 to 26.
Like in all other schools. It’s normal.
FH, G, KP had strong years.
Bute had less strong compared to last year.
Also - Bute never publishes the result this early - and does it quietly, not with pomp. It’s in accordance with the general approach.
It is not the feeder to SPGS.
At 7+ it happens to select bright girls, who are taught well and get into top schools. SPGS is one of them. It does not, however, turn an average girl to SPGS girl, no magic potions there.

Well done to all of the kids who went through this unpleasant process and ended up at great schools.

chilledparent27 · 16/03/2019 11:02

results always vary depending on the girls in the particular year group. They have 60 girls so always take long to publish as they need to wait till everyone has confirmed their choices. Waitling lists are still moving a bit as well. KPS hasn't published yet either, again 40 girls to confirm. Falkner always publishes early as they only have 20 girls. Bute and KPS usually publish just before the Easter holiday, although this year Easter is quite late so should be a bit earlier.

Knightsbridge · 16/04/2019 08:10

KPS has yet to publish results. They supposedly were extremely successful this year. Anybody hearing anything specific on KPS?

OP posts:
Lolakath19 · 16/04/2019 08:26

From what I have heard there are 6/7 girls at spgs.

FlumePlume · 16/04/2019 19:28

Does anyone on this thread know how many places generally go to groups of girls from ‘feeder’ preps versus how many to girls from schools that rarely send girls to SPGS (state primaries or non selective preps)? I’m interested as I have a dd going into Y7 at SPGS this autumn from a state primary.

Knightsbridge · 23/04/2019 09:07

FlumePlume, there's a website, I can't find the link anymore, but they add up all the schools that feed into SPGS. It's an unofficial count, but basically like in a normal year, 20 are from Bute, 7 Falkner, 5 Glen, couple Ken Prep, so let's say approx. 35-ish come from feeders. That said, I don't think that it really matters.

Here's the one I think you mean:
www.londonpreprep.com/2018/08/spgs-feeders/

It looks like the majority of girls will be the only ones going from their schools.

Lolakath19 · 24/04/2019 13:30

How many girls in year 7 at SPGS?

Knightsbridge · 24/04/2019 13:46

that's the link, thanks for posting. I don't know for year 7 @ SPGS

OP posts:
chilledparent27 · 25/04/2019 23:23

I think it is somewhere between 90-100 spgs 11+ intake.

FlumePlume · 27/04/2019 18:02

Thanks, Huff!

Knightsbridge · 08/05/2019 07:41

Kensington Prep School has published their results. Their girls did really well, congratulations to all the KPS students! 18% of the class got offers to SPGS, 41% received offers from Godolphin, and 10% from City. It's nearly mid-May and still no results published from Bute.

OP posts:
Lolakath19 · 08/05/2019 11:04

They will published, they might be waiting for some girls to move on thewaiting list.
KPS has now published accepted places. Main results are out of 39 girls, 6 to SPGS, 3 city, 6 goldophin, 2 latymer, 1 tiffin, 2 JAGS, 5 to boarding school. Others are going to FH, Putney High queens gate and lady Margaret.

Lolakath19 · 14/05/2019 13:28

Maybe they don t want to publish now with their non competitive etho?

DancingbytheRiver · 14/05/2019 17:00

strange they have not published yet. Maybe they are waiting for the waiting lists to move. Maybe it is GPDR (although unlikely)

Knightsbridge · 17/05/2019 11:13

The Bute results have been published. They are just showing the schools' websites, no actual results. I wonder why they no longer want to tell people results after doing it for so many years. Thoughts?

OP posts:
DancingbytheRiver · 17/05/2019 11:29

Very strange. Hopefully someone will shed some light on this. I still love the school and its ethos, and their approach to learning (non competitive, holistic, non mechanical, if only because I think it would suit my child best....

Knightsbridge · 17/05/2019 13:37

DancingbytheRiver, I agree it's still an outstanding school for many students. However, when a school changes its disclosure policy after many years of publishing full results, I hate to say it, but it looks really bad and suspicious. For better or worse, many parents send their children to Bute because of the school's historic success with schools like Godolphin, Latymer Upper and SPGS. With Bute's new disclosure policy, will the school continue to be able to attract the same calibre and diverse student body over time? To me, this seems like a huge win for the competition...especially Falkner House and Glendower. Those two schools will most like attract London's brightest and best students going forward. Things are changing...

ourkidmolly · 17/05/2019 13:43

Maybe they want less parents like you.

wasthesummerof69 · 17/05/2019 13:46

To be honest the 'brightest and best' at age 4 ( or age 6) is a completely meaningless description in the grand scheme of things....
