Lochinver House School - where do the families live?

Hi

I'm looking for information as to the main areas where the families live of the boys who go to Lochinver. We are considering it for our 6 year old son who is very sociable and we would be looking for play dates/socialising as a family outside of school, but obvs if the families are very spread out, this may not be possible.

Thanks!

I do know where the school is although I don’t know it personally. My DDs went to a senior school quite near and several siblings were at Lochinver House.

You must be aware that private preps always have children who travel some distance. They won’t just take from the immediate locality. At my DDs prep in Bucks, some parents would travel for at least 30 minutes to get to school. If my child played with theirs, it might be nearly 1 hours drive from home if they were completely in the opposite direction.

So, you might well have to factor travel to friends houses into your day occasionally if your child becomes friendly with a child some distance away. It’s probably inevitable. However you might get lucky and they are friendly with ones nearer to you.

Hi

Thanks for responding. Yes, I understand that parents travel to prep schools from some distance. It's just that as Lochinver is on the fringes of London, and we live about 25 mins away in the opposite direction (to the North and East into Herts) if most of the parents are North London based, then obviously a drive in and out of London for play dates etc is not ideal.

Was just hoping that someone would know if that is the case.

Thanks

When my DDs knew boys there, there were local parents that lived in Pottters Bar, Brookmans Park plus surrounding villages. They won’t all be from London.

Sorry: I meant to add: this isn’t up to date info though. Ask the school? Just for general info about where boys live. You may find there are not too many from your area but if you don’t have similar preps nearby, there could be a few who are not that far away. I do understand the pain when your DC makes friends with the child that lives the furthest away in the opposite direction! However when they get older, they tend to
play at the weekends. There can be lots of whole class parties too. Evenings can be tight for time with prep and after school clubs.
