Suggestions please.

There are only a couple of others we have that aren't Donaldson eg A visitor for Bear (great well written and illustrated story).

We're in dire need of something new and engaging to read!

Mog is a favourite in our house.

All the Beatrix Potter stories.

Meg & Mog

Percy the Park Keeper

Mick Inkpen's books, especially Kipper are well lobed in our house as are his daughter's, Zoe Inkpen.

We have a book that all mine love called Jody's Beans by Malachy Doyle.

Another vote for Oliver Jeffers, his books are just lovely. I still can’t read “Here We Are” without getting teary!

DuvetCaterpillar · 14/10/2018 22:29

I recommend "Baby's First Bank Heist" - very funny, and great illustrations!

Trampire · 14/10/2018 22:55

Great Rhyming prose books are the 'Princess and the....' series by Caryl Hart (really NOT about girly Princesses)

The best one is The Princess and the Giant.

Haven't seen these recommended but I love reading these books to my 4 and 2 year old, beautiful stories, beautiful illustration - and the kids love them:

The Lion Inside
TheSquirrels who squabbled
The Koala that could

All by Rachel Bright

haven't read the other suggestions so sorry if duplicating but favourites here included, Mog the cat ones, The Lighthouse Keeper, Katie Morag, A kitten called Moonlight, My Friend Bear, Merkat Mail, Milicent and Meer, Jane Hissey books, One True Bear, Winnie the Witch, Mouseton Abbey, Hello is that Grandma and I am sure there are lots of others.

TheSteakBakeOfAwesome · 15/10/2018 12:46

Pumpkin Soup (love the illustrations in this one ) - I adore this one for the same reasons - every time I read it I find more detail in the pictures myself.

The other one I really really love is The Last Noo Noo - the grandma sat in the background looking condemnation over the mother's parenting just amuses me.

The Duck in the Truck... Fix it Duck and other ones I love as well, and Winnie the Witch (but she's slightly more wordy). There's loads more but they're either upstairs in the kids' room (probably buried in DD1's bed as she tends to end up sleeping buried under a pile of books most nights and having to be excavated from them when I go up) or in my car boot for supply teaching lessons.

I never ever want to hear Supertayto again though - that one is ALWAYS on the Cbeebies lunchtimeish story slot!

Martin Waddle - Big Bear/Little Bear

Winnie the Witch was a big hit in our house

Percy the park keeper, lovely illustrations

PerspicaciaTick · 16/10/2018 22:12

Look out for Neil Gaiman's "Chu" books about a panda. And "Unfortunately the milk" is slightly older.

Wow, I thought we have plenty of books but nothing compare to the vast mumsnet knowledge. Off to amazon now, thank you.

Grumpbum123 · 17/10/2018 21:12

There’s an ouch in my pouch - try and read it without putting on an Australian accent Grin
