Suggestions please.

There are only a couple of others we have that aren't Donaldson eg A visitor for Bear (great well written and illustrated story).

We're in dire need of something new and engaging to read!

The Mole Who Knew It Was None Of His Business.

One of the very few picture books that survived the big cull of 2010.

choccyp1g · 14/10/2018 20:33

Alan Ahlberg Fast Fox Series.

chachaboom · 14/10/2018 20:35

Depemdsnon age but I recall these:
Anthony Browne books and Oliver Jeffers.
Tom and Pippo series.
The lighthouse keeper series.
Never liked Julia Donaldson or any other rhyming books. Except the paper dolls one.

The Hairy Maclary books are brilliant. I love reading them to DD (she loves them too).

Wow thanks all. Have just ordered 8 from amazon that are titles I don't know. Going to the library tomorrow to look for the others. Dd is 6 - and at an age where she can read to me but the world of Biff and Chipper is not nearly as exciting as a great story. So wanted some new titles to keep her excited. She loves stories and was running out of ideas. Thank you so much. Going to save this thread and work through them all.

Anything by Nadia shireen. We love bumblebear and the cow who fell to earth.

Also the runaway dinner by allan Alberg is a good story but the writing has a random narrative style. Still our favourite book though.

It's half term soon - why don't you take her to a bookshop for a treat & let her browse! DD loved Angelina Ballerina at that age - not such a fan myself! DS2 is 6 and made us read him all the Tin-Tin books this summer - even though I am sure much of the humour went over his head - he has also started to enjoy chapter books for that age that have a few illustrations - stories about lost puppies / Mr Majeika / Flat stanley - that sort of thing. (being read to - he's still on Biff & Chip etc himself!)
