he has been assessed for ADHD but he was just 2 points away from being diagnosed with ADHD. He is having another assessment in a year time. He started to improve towards the end of last years term (june/july). He gets distracted when in the classroom so his TA takes him out of the classroom and have a one to one with him.

I noticed on the last terms school report that he's very clever with his maths but struggles on his English (he can read stories and explain them back to me well), but he cannot structure a story together, so i dont know whether cos by the time they've got my DS's attention in the classroom, the lesson is over or he cannot put a story together. (At first, he was assessed for dyspraxia cos he couldnt hold a pen but he's nearly 100% getting there).

Is there any websites etc that i can help him with?..

thanks

Maybe he just isn't a creative thinker. If he can do maths and can interpret stories but not write them, maybe it's just not his strength. What is he doing when he is distracted?

he gets distracted by his mates of what they are doing in the lesson and not concentrating of what he is supposed to be doing, BUT he can be listening to a teacher in one ear and be listening to his mates in the other ear, if his teacher ask him to repeat back what had been said to him, he repeat it back correctly!!.

i just thought maybe is there anything i can do.

Sounds exactly like my son he has ADHD (inattentive) that was diagnosed just before his 7th birthday. Dyslexic was diagnosed just before his 10th bday.

These children are often extremely creative but find it very difficult to order their thoughts. I’m just about to give Nessy story beach program a go

maldives - how many times your DS was assessed before he was diagnosed? as he already had 2 and next year will be his 3rd one, cos of so close to being diagnosed

Hi he was only assessed the once he ADHD (inattentive), I was told that he couldn’t be assessed until 7 because children still need time to grow and mature to a level where the assessment will be reliable
