Moving house with 7 yr old - how to deal with school situation

Hi all.

Due to an uncertain work/financial situation we were unable to set a date on moving house until now.

We'll move to the new area by the end of next month.

We'd checked some new schools in the area a couple of months back when we were told there were spaces although we were unable to commit at the time.

My question is, what is the best way to approach this situation with regard to our child's education and school.

If we can get confirmation that a school space is still available in the new place over the summer holidays, how do we approach the old school and when?
Do we need to de-register on the first day back at school or is it better to notify the head teacher now (we have facebook and email access to the head teacher) rather than leave it until September?

Many thanks

Get in touch with the LA admission department they should be able to sort it out for you.

Stay enrolled at present school but show evidence to school/LEA of new house move including any contacts exchanged or similar evidence. You can secure your new school in advance
