Y6 SATS - Is it possible to achieve 3 scores of 120 ?

Apparently someone at dc's school did but the most likely candidate says it wasn't them.

I'm thinking there's been some tall stories told via kids on xbox tonight !

Completely possible for them to get every question right in all papers and therefore get 120 across the board.
Remember they are standardised scores not raw scores so if I child got 119 SS, they may be up to 3 marks off getting 120.

Ignore the above message, I got myself confused! What I meant was that they may have got 120 across the board but as it’s a standardised score and not a raw score they may not have got every single mark available. For example in the GPS test 50 marks were available and if they got 47 or above they would have got a SS of 120.

There's no such thing as 119. It goes 118 - 120.
You had to get 109 out of 110 marks in maths to get 120. The English 120 scores had a slightly wider range.

I remember checking this. Another yes in 2026. Raw score was 109/110 for maths, 68 for SPAG and 49/50 for Reading.
Can't tell anyone in real life as she wants to be understated. Not a selective or a grammar or even prepped at school. Bog Standard state village school in the North West.

Actually, statutory reporting requires just NS or AS for the tests - at standard or not at standard.

Yep, certainly possible, happened in my family twice. Won't necessarily be the one you think it was though. This year due to the delays in sats results teachers wrote reports before seeing the sats and for my yr6 boy it did not reflect the results. A certain type of child has inflated teacher assessments and others have the opposite.

what do you mean by a certain type of child?

Neat hand writing, well presented work, confident sharing knowledge verbally in class, takes pleasure out of writing lots, very motivated by praise and wanting to impress teacher.

not my experience I would say. my son certainly does not do any of those, hes incredibly shy and hates, absolutely detests, writing. maybe im taking this personally but I think you are being a bit harsh

So @trying29 you're telling me that your son has higher teacher assessments of his ability than his test results, despite not giving the teacher much to work with by not talking to them or writing much?

I'm not sure you understood my post. I think you thought I was talking about children's ability as opposed to the relationship between teacher's/classmates assessment of their ability vs test scores.

My child got 118, 118 and 120. Very proud.

My daughter has achieved 3 x 120 this year.

She is very bright so we aren’t surprised but I am pleased for her, one other child also has done the same (her friend) and apparently it’s quite unusual to have two in a class of 30 do it.

my elder DC got 120,120,119 and is also very bright. Both dropped a few marks over all the papers (not perfect scores) although both got full marks in maths across the papers which apparently is unusual but definitely not unheard of. I think Sats are pretty easy compared to grammar entrance and private entrance exams overall.

These are the exact same scores as my DD this year, also at a bog standard school in north west!

@JustMarriedBecca sorry almost same, my DD got 110 in the maths. Well done to your DC! A really good achievement!
