How does your school tell you the results?

I know/hope they would contact me if they had concerns. But is that it? Is it normal to not know anything at all?

Not even a note saying well done/brag/boast our school/class average was x

DD's result was in her end of year report. We didn't get any general feedback on how the whole class did.

TeaAndNoSympathy · 25/06/2018 21:42

Our school tells parents in end of year reports too.

TeaAndNoSympathy · 25/06/2018 21:43

But only the result of your child. I wouldn’t expect anything about how the class did as a whole.

WhenDoISleep · 25/06/2018 21:48

DS1 - we were notified in his end of year report.

DS2 - we will be notified in his end of year report in a few weeks. The pass mark was released today and we were told that if DC hadn't passed we would be contacted today to discuss how they would be supported next year.

shoelaces · 25/06/2018 22:25

Ok that reassured me then. A friend had already been told the score for her DS, the pass mark ? And school average.

I don't think there are additional issues but being screened currently for dyslexia. Calm down dear!!!

Our school gave us the overall numbers for the school who achieved the standard - of all who took, so that would've included re-takers of course. I actually thought it was published as part of the gov school stats, but I can't see it.

umizoomi · 25/06/2018 23:23

We have had the result for the class announced - 92% have passed. No idea on individual results

BingTheButterflySlayer · 26/06/2018 07:20

Nothing as of yet - I'm utterly unconcerned by this.

user789653241 · 26/06/2018 07:32

We never officially heard anything about it, as far as I can remember. Not hearing is good thing. They passed. If they have any problems, the school need to give them support, and make them re take it in YR2.
It's not a test, it's a screening check.

wendz86 · 26/06/2018 10:35

Last year we were told at parents evening in July , what the pass mark was and what they got.

Feenie · 26/06/2018 10:55

We never officially heard anything about it, as far as I can remember. Not hearing is good thing.

However, it is statutory to report children's individual scores to parents and whether or not their score meets the standard of the check.

Footofthestairs · 26/06/2018 11:07

The pass mark is staying at 32/40 this year, and you can now see this year's test online:

In his end of year reports. Ds has got 100% in reception and the practice tests this year so would be bemused if he didn’t pass tbh.

user789653241 · 26/06/2018 14:32

Feenie, it was stuck to the end of year report, written on the post it.
So the score was reported to parents, just didn't feel like it was official.

Luckymummy22 · 26/06/2018 16:59

DD informed us she got all ticks - we had never mentioned it and School didn’t tell us when it was happening. So i’m hoping she has passed 😂

I would expect though to see results in report card. We’ve heard nothing from the school.

drspouse · 27/06/2018 12:00

Just looked at the test and there are more than 8 words DS would tell me he doesn't know - we'll see if he actually made an attempt for the teacher as he does know some of the PGCs, just prefers not to bother thinking when he's reading with me.

drspouse · 27/06/2018 12:01

(By which I'm including alien words he'd tell me he can't read)

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 27/06/2018 12:44

Drspouse which phonics scheme is he doing?

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 27/06/2018 12:46

Tbh saucers is hard and not even an alien word

drspouse · 27/06/2018 13:35

Mainly Oxford - Saucers is one, not sure he's done c as s.
He is massively stubborn over all the split digraphs. He knows them but when he's with me insists they are brand new and he's never seen them before and starts guessing ch and things.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 27/06/2018 13:38

I had to teach ds split digraph... I think I used YouTube vid by mr Thorne does phonics

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 27/06/2018 13:39

Ds is a very good reader and saucers may trip him up

drspouse · 27/06/2018 13:41

I think he is OK on them in school TBH!

catkind · 27/06/2018 13:43

Are they supposed to tell us the score? With DS we just had a note in with the report explaining what the check was for and saying he had met the standard. Not that we're more than vaguely curious - they knew their phonics, if they don't get 100% they've made a silly slip or teacher misheard them or something.

Naty1 · 27/06/2018 13:54

Tomorrow exactly. Im sure in context saucer would be fine. But mixed up with alien words etc.
Also i tend to say deelay for delay.
It's all a bit strange after 1yo (yr r) they should really be passing this. Certainly by end yr 1 only getting 32 as a pass would concern me. Looking at previous years results could be wrong but it looked like most got full marks.
