World Book Day: what children books have a doctor in them please?

Scientists real or fictional is the theme. DS2 wants to be a doctor. I have a white coat and stethoscope set anyway. He is only 5 so he probably won't be asked who he is but I'd like to at least vaguely link it to an actual book character. Dh says I'm not allowed to send him as Dr Frankenstein and I'd rather avoid 'random mad professor' as I suspect at least half the school will do that because the costume is easy.

Zog! You just need a dragon

StealthPolarBear · 18/02/2018 11:45

Or erm... This is difficult

RatOnnaStick · 18/02/2018 11:45

Haha! Brilliant but that means I have to buy a costume. I can live with that though.

Why, will you be the dragon? ;)

RatOnnaStick · 18/02/2018 11:47

I know it is isn't it? I think that's why they said real or fictional. Ds1 is going as Tim Peake. There will be many Einstein's I guess. I wanted to avoid the obvious though.

Dr Dolittle is a vet but you could have stuffed animals peeking out the pockets.

RatOnnaStick · 18/02/2018 11:49

No! (Well yes, I am a bit dragony on the school run) but I meant we don't have a dragon costume and I'm crap at crafts so I will have to spend money on a new costume.

Dr Dolittle is a good idea. I could fudge that.

Baby Brains?! The baby becomes a doctor... But I realise your DS might not like the baby reference!

NoNoCharlieRascal · 18/02/2018 11:52

Draw a question mark on his white coat and say he is Dr Who Grin

There are loads of books out there about Drs from Topsy and Tim to Elmo. Look at 'people who help us' books.

Girlundercover · 18/02/2018 11:57

Zog is a good idea, you don’t need a dragon costume?? Just a toy dragon/ dinosaur whatever.

RatOnnaStick · 18/02/2018 12:00

I could dress him all in green I suppose, add some pointy ears and teeth to a cap and borrow some wings from somewhere. Put the white coat on as well?We don't own a toy dragon.

VandelayIndustries · 18/02/2018 12:01

Ask around your friends to see if anyone gas a toy dragon. Or see if another child wants to be the dragon. Or print out a dragon picture and stick it on the Doctor costume.

RatOnnaStick · 18/02/2018 12:01

Generic Dr is the fall back, nono. I can't in all conscience do Dr Who. As bad as Frankenstein.

StealthPolarBear · 18/02/2018 12:02

What would that be, sorry
And I'm not sure the doc in zog ever wore a white coat, I'll have to dig it out. I think it was just the wish!

HappydaysArehere · 18/02/2018 12:02

Doctor Foster went to Gloucester or the doctor in Miss Polly had a dolly who was sick, sick, sick, so she called for the doctor to be quick, quick, quick......I expect he would be hearing the Miss Polly one at school or nursery. Good luck.

Someone had the same problem ten years ago!

I wouldn’t anticipate many Dr’s/Einsteins. It’s mainly Harry Potter, Disney Princesses, Superheroes and (by the time they get to Juniors) any excuse to wear their own clothes.

2anddone · 18/02/2018 12:07

How about this book? Or Dr Brown Bear from Peppa Pig

SellFridges · 18/02/2018 12:07

Oh, and Roald Dahl characters.

RatOnnaStick · 18/02/2018 12:09

Sellfridges the school theme is scientists real or fictional. They have a whole science week leading up to the day

Doh! Missed that! I would therefore expect a load of Dpc McStuffins and Dr Who’s.

TeaforTiger · 18/02/2018 12:48

Izzy Gizmo!

She's an inventor and saves a bird by making him some new wings.

It's a lovely book.

StealthPolarBear · 18/02/2018 13:22

I can't think of any male doctors in (recent) kids books.
Can we decided that Sophie'a dad (tiger) was a doctor? I think he just wore a suit. :o
