Hi - what would people say the benefits of independent education, or for those in state schools what are there benefits , our daughter will start Primary 1 in August. We will be moving from Glasgow to East Ayrshire or Renfrewshire later this year. She is currently at nursery at the Kelvinside Academy. We have been to open days at Klevinside , Hutchesons Grammar and Craigholme aswell as Wellington in Ayr , but only possible if we move to East Ayrshire opinions on these ?

Is it worth money sending children to independent schools? I went to an independent school from age 11 but purely for boarding purposes.
Thank you

How long is a piece of string, basically? It really really depends on what your state options are like, what your private options are like, and what you will have to sacrifice/pull out of your hat to make the private option work (longer commute, less disposable income).

I would be more willing to think about private education in Scotland than in England, simply because it is supposed to be more affordable than in England and because the Curriculum for Excellence is bloody useless.
