How many school jumpers for one child?

Dd (4) is coming home from reception each day looking like she's been painting herself with her school dinners!

I'm eaither scrubbing it off early morning or if I'm being more organised doing a twenty minute wash the night before. I'm happy (ish their £10!) to buy another one but in the welcome pack they suggested 2 skirts, 3 tops etc and just one jumper which suggests this isn't an issue for most family's. How many do you own?

I really don't want to send her in looking grubby.

Seems very expensive to wash every day?. I do a huge uniform wash at the weekend.

3 weeks into reception here with 2 jumpers, and I'm going to Sainsburys on Monday to buy another 2! Confused Between school dinners, meals at after school club twice a week and paint/sand/mud/I-don't-really-want-to-know they are often ruined after 1-2 days on.

  1. Wash two weekly and wear even if a bit stained the second or third day.
Helps that he tends to fling them off in the classroom.

Ds has 1 (poor deprived child Blush). I do a wash every night. If it's dirty it goes in, if not it doesn't, dries quick, no problem. I may have been known to scrub at it with a baby wipe on the odd occasion when I've forgotten to wash it.

I didn't know what DD was going to want to wear and I have a younger one to wear it too so didn't mind buying loads. We also don't have to stick to logo jumpers.

She's got 2 logo jumpers she refuses to wear and 3 supermarket cardigans. It's all bright red so I wash it all together with other red / pink stuff once a week..

  1. Occasionally I have to wash it during the week, but it doesn't generally get that dirty.

Pinafores for my DD were a godsend for “saving” the white shirts from constant stains. And yes most mornings the nail brush comes out to quickly brush away another jumper stain before school run Grin

RedBlackberries · 06/10/2017 20:34

Reading back through this I can't believe I've been farting by with one and a kitchen sponge Grin

Two. If it's not too bad, it gets worn again.

RedBlackberries · 06/10/2017 20:34

Farting??? Getting by. Weird auto correct!

  1. Uniform change on a wed. Jumpers grow steadily more filthy by the day. Stupid white polo shirts last 2days if I'm lucky. Reckon primary school teachers have more to worry about than the state of my kid's jumpers.
Muddlingalongalone · 06/10/2017 20:42

2 but I don't think she wears it that often tbh. Still in summer dresses and insisting on shorts for pe. Crazy child!

Kokapetl · 06/10/2017 21:00

We have three but only bought one new. The others were both from local charity shops. One is the right size and Ok condition. The other is a bit big and a bit stained (although better than they look by the end of the day!). I usually wash them every other day and they do dry overnight with a quick iron. But I also have a messy toddler so need to wash that often anyway!

Sierra259 · 06/10/2017 21:42

Again, I don't really mind about getting extra uniform as DC2 should be going to the same school in a couple of years, so any that don't get as much wear will be used then!
