How many school jumpers for one child?

Dd (4) is coming home from reception each day looking like she's been painting herself with her school dinners!

I'm eaither scrubbing it off early morning or if I'm being more organised doing a twenty minute wash the night before. I'm happy (ish their £10!) to buy another one but in the welcome pack they suggested 2 skirts, 3 tops etc and just one jumper which suggests this isn't an issue for most family's. How many do you own?

I really don't want to send her in looking grubby.

dd2 wears un logoed , ds wears logoed, they both have 2. Ds's get filthy most days, but they are 1 million % polyester so dry before they're even out of the washing machine, and get washed most days.

Dd1 has just started secondary and her jumper cost a bloody fortune, so she only has one, which she has to wear every day.

StrangeAndUnusual · 05/10/2017 10:44

I have 3 jumpers per child. But I wash everything they wear every day!

Actually, DC1 only has 2 jumpers because he refuses to wear them unless it's actually snowing.

Freshprincess · 05/10/2017 10:49

In reception we had 3. Year 2 onwards I could manage with 2.
Mine were supposed tonhave logoed jumpers and polos. I stopped buying the polos and just had tesco ones from year 2 when I realized that for most of the year they never took their jumpers off so nobody ever saw them.

There were plenty of kids with plain jumpers. I don't think the teachers care that much in primary.

Bubblysqueak · 05/10/2017 10:52

We bought 5 t shirts 5 jumpers and 5 trousers. I don't have time to wash during the week so he has clean on everyday and wash at weekends.

bakingcupcakes · 05/10/2017 11:02

DS has 1 with a logo, one cheap Asda one in his bag as a spare. Atm he only attends school nursery 2 mornings (other nursery don't insist on uniform) so it's washed after each wear. Next year we'll need at least 3.

MeriReu · 05/10/2017 11:04

DS started with 3 school pants 5 polos and 3 jumpers, he comes back covered in paint every day or some other mess! All the parents have said buy 5 of everything, makes life easier!
So when he's back next week (off atm due to an op) he'll have 5 of each.
I find I'm doing a wash every night instead of every 2 just to keep on top of his uniform!

Jemimapuddleduk · 05/10/2017 11:07

We have 5 t shirts, 4 jumpers/cardis, 3 skirts, 2 dresses. Nothing seems to last more than a day. I was hoping I could pass the tops down to ds but there is already bobbling on the logo'd t shirts and jumpers. Annoying.

wendz86 · 05/10/2017 11:08

My daughter has two but she has lost one at the moment..
She takes it off the minute she gets in the classroom so barely gets dirty.

why12345 · 05/10/2017 11:11

5 of each. Top, dress, cardigan. Then I do one big uniform wash at the end of the week.

why12345 · 05/10/2017 11:12

Sent to soon. Unless it's filthy then I wash it on the day.

dantdmistedious · 05/10/2017 11:27

I have five each or jumper, skirt, cardigan, polo for each child.

I don't have time or the invitation to do mid week washing plus we don't have a tumble drier so if the hearings not on no guarantee of getting it dry.

They're y2 now and tbh could prob get away with 3 for each as they are definitely less of a state than when in yR.

Ttbb · 05/10/2017 11:56

I had 1 growing up-but we usually did eat messy food at school. My DS(3) has 3. I'm considering getting one more.

Jupitertomars · 05/10/2017 12:19

I have 5 for DS5. Tried 3 last year and was forever washing them with one or two other pieces of similar coloured clothing and it was stressful.

Im hoping the reduced washing of the individual jumpers will mean I can reuse some next year.

Cedar03 · 05/10/2017 12:24

In reception she had four. She used to come home with her lunch all up the sleeves, right down the front.

They lasted her a couple of years or so though so we did get our money's worth out of them.

Now she's in Year 6 and we're down to 2.

We've had a text from school tonight asking parents to check jumpers/cardigans as several dc have missing ones.

Label the bloody uniform! The amount of parents that don't and then moan when they go missing is crazy!

My dd has lost ( labelled ) items and i tend not to stress as they eventually come back to her.

RedBlackberries · 05/10/2017 21:56

Haha, all her stuffs labelled. I ordered another jumper today and for the first time she came home spotless Grin

We have 3. He needs a fresh one each day. I wash them all over the weekend and then wash two on a Wednesday so I don’t feel like I’m having to do too much washing.

dementedma · 05/10/2017 21:58

2 was always enough. They dont need to be spotless all the time

thisagain · 06/10/2017 07:46
  1. One for each day and I wash at weekends.
thisagain · 06/10/2017 07:48

We actually have 5 of everything and it all goes in the wash each day. DS is 6.

HHH3 · 06/10/2017 19:28
  1. I bought 3 and then when he started school (he's just started Reception) another mum kindly gave me 2 that her DS had grown out of. 4 are at home and 1 is at school as he has a complete change of clothes there.
SleightOfMind · 06/10/2017 19:32

My twins have 5 each but they're DCs 3 and 4 so we have a few hand me downs.
I bought 4 for DS1 but he couldn't eat a biscuit without looking like he'd had a porridge fight Grin

Lifechallenges · 06/10/2017 20:14
  1. Mine also take them off and leave in trays and lockers. Luckily we don't have logo ones and have hand me downs too
