Oh god we've started getting the Kipper books and even I have no idea what the story is!

We've got the Getting Up book from Oxford Reading Tree and we are meant to talk about each page and tell the story without words. I am clueless.

The end is that it's the dads birthday and a load of randoms are in the garden but the beginning and middle seem to involve a dirty top getting clean and while the kid trashes its room the parents seem happy. At the end you see the father's back so obviously the characters that seemed like the parents weren't the parents as they look nothing alike.

It's basically a trip with no LSD.

They are definitely someone's bad acid trip.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 28/09/2017 17:15

Very odd, between that and the dogging.

SleepFreeZone · 28/09/2017 17:16

tomorrow Shock

I thought DD and I had endured read all of the books! Clearly the teachers only gave her the tame ones! Grin

SavoyCabbage · 28/09/2017 17:20

What about this one....

Oh god we've started getting the Kipper books and even I have no idea what the story is!
Tomorrowillbeachicken · 28/09/2017 17:21

Lol. I found those images amusing but had to explain to ds who was five at time we don't do those things.

HeyMicky · 28/09/2017 17:22

Oh we had that one last week. I think they are planning a surprise for when dad gets up at 7; the older ones are a bit more organised while the younger one gets ready

Or something

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 28/09/2017 17:22

Poor granny and her glasses.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 28/09/2017 17:24

The two pics in my post are from books that are either purple or turquoise

God that brings back memories. I'm 31 and we used these in primary school along with workbooks if I remember right. Biff, Chip, Kipper and Floppy. The Magic Key isn't it?

spanieleyes · 28/09/2017 20:08

The drunken horse is a firm favourite!

RedBlackberries · 28/09/2017 20:10

sleepfree we've been sent home with that one too. The only bit dd actually likes is the dog having toothpaste on its nose. Why is the post woman invited to the Dads birthday?

spanieleyes · 28/09/2017 20:15

Mind you, this is a fun story starring Mrs May!

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 28/09/2017 21:05

Last book we had they left floppy behind on a magic key adventure. I'm hoping they never retrieve him.

SleepFreeZone · 28/09/2017 21:23

I think I need to look at it again tomorrow and figure out who is who. The stripey top was dirty in one picture and clean in the next and the kid was wrecking his room while other people looked on smiling. I'm now assuming they were siblings or something.

I can't believe some of the pictures that have been posted on this thread!! What the hell is going on with the old woman who's hat has flown off?!!

This is hilarious. I have no idea what Gran was on in the story we had sent home yesterday but she basically beat up three witches. All interspersed with references to "Good old Gran" Hmm

We had one where the dog was peeing up against a tree. The kids found it very amusing.

BeyondThePage · 29/09/2017 08:02

Oh - and always looked for the mislaid spectacles in each book - and the dog's bone in most of them - and there is a surprised looking squirrel in some - oh and the pervy looking handyman.....

My eldest DC's (now at uni/just graduated) all learned on ORT and the illustrator clearly enjoyed putting in a few slightly dubious things for the parents amusement.

6yo DC4 is at the same school and I'm pretty sure, learning to read using the same tattered copies of ORT. He's on level 8 now (brown books) and some of then are actually a bit sinister to an adult, both illustrations and story.
DC likes them now they are "proper" stories with lots of words. Glad this will be MY last time reading the series Grin

You need to read The Time Chronicles to understand what is going on. The janitor is basically the guardian for the children against evil time travellers.

Gileswithachainsaw · 29/09/2017 08:12

There's all the creepy neigbours and janitors too who peer over fences and in windows...
