please may you let me know what is the point of that? It is irritating for both of us. What happens if she turns up in her normal school uniform?

Think of a poem character who would be wearing school uniform. She's them.

Any of the kids from "Please Mrs Butler"- job done

Maudlinmaud · 18/09/2017 15:40

Go as Emma Hackett from Emma Hackett's notebook by Allan Ahlberg. There are lots of other characters from his poems if that one doesn't tickle her.

Euphemia going by other threads possibly isolation Wink

Matilda told such dreadful lies
It made one Gasp and stretch your eyes ?

You could do school uniform for that.

jamdonut · 18/09/2017 18:13

The owl and / or the pussycat

Little Miss Muffet

The Gruffalo is written in a rhyming style, as are most Julia Donaldson books ( the witch from Room on the Broom? Stick Man?)

Any of the cats from Old Possums book of Practical Cats

The Queen or The Dairymaid or Alice or Christopher Robin from AA Milne's poems

I'm sure nothing will happen if you send her in school uniform, but do you want her to be (possibly) the only one in her class without some sort of costume?
We often find dressing up clothes for those who turn up in uniform so they don't feel left out.

Pud2 · 18/09/2017 18:42

Nothing is likely to happen but she may feel left out if everyone else is dressed up? I would imagine it's a way of bringing poetry to life and helping children to enjoy it. All good fun.

BarbarianMum · 18/09/2017 20:14

Norhing happens except she doesn't get to join in the excitement of getting dressed up. If she doesn't care, no problem.

Can you really not find a poem anywhere about a little girl in t shirt and leggings?

BarbarianMum · 18/09/2017 20:15

Or if she has any costumes she likes, find a poem to suit them (or post what they are on here and we'll help).

Canadawet · 19/09/2017 17:36

I thought I had posted a thank you message yesterday on my phone but cannot find it now, sorry about that. So I have ordered a cat's costume as she didn't want an owl's one, at least as lots of you have said she won't feel left out and regretting not having bothered. thanks again!
