Hi - was hoping for some views about Churchfields Infant and Junior school (infant in particular) as our DD will be applying for a reception place this Autumn for September 2018. Any insights good or bad would be much appreciated. How are the facilities/the teachers etc? Are your kids happy there? We have tried to attend a tour of the school but won't be able to until September when they re-open. Thanks!

I would check the catchment area against your home address very carefully. As far as I recall there are , or were, a few anomalies in their catchment, which means that one particular set of streets is excluded although they are very close, things might have changed, but I know it used to cause upset.

apart from that it is a lovely school.

Hi viques, yes we have to be very cautious with catchments nowadays don't we. We live virtually opposite the school 0.1 miles away so I hope this would fall under the catchment (they suggested the neighbouring streets up to 0.3 miles would when I called them) and I think I know the issue you're referring to - there's the Queen Mary's gate development nearby which people thought would fall within the catchment but didn't in the end - it all has to do with the walking distance. That development seems close as many apartments overlook the school but then to walk there they'd have to go the long way round! Glad to hear it's a lovely school - thanks!
