Year 6 children - Did yours get SATS homework/revision for the Easter holidays?

And if so how much?

Mine got 10 days x 30 minutes. How does that compare to other schools? My child is seriously stressed out and I'm increasingly pissed off with the school who are applying a lot of pressure to this year group.

Fourteen pieces, one for each day. Each one is about 30 minutes long, maybe 6-8 sides of a4.

They've also had booster classes three times a week for an hour each day before/after school since January. They have done practice papers and tests in some form or another for the same length of time. The pressure is huge though the school deny it exists.

If they weren't so busy learning how to pass the sats tests, they might receive an education 🙄

Amazing how different our experiences are - current ones. How can our school have barely started and have told the children not to worry about them because they are testing the school/not given homework and others drilling for them?

Mad. A secondary school person recently told me that the primary school can opt out of SATS (was a secondary that do not take any notice of SATS). Not sure whether that is true or not but they said that some state primary schools choose not to do them, other kids come from private schools or a home ed background so they couldn't possibly dream of using SATS.

" A secondary school person recently told me that the primary school can opt out of SATS " I'm afraid the secondary school person was talking rubbish. Primary schools have a statutory duty to administer National Curriculum tests (SATs) no choice!

4 online tests, 4 practise papers, spellings & sentences using the spelling words in context.

He did a bit most days and was all done long before the end of the holiday. I think it helped him feel he was getting ready for SATS so he was reassured by it.

Raspberry ice, thank you for your comments.... I think there will be a big change at the end of year 7, as they will be set in different subjects according to their performance through the year. So I'm hoping that she will find herself in classes which suit her abilities.

Red sky... Dd's school really does stream purely on sats scores for yr7, and it seems kids are rarely, if ever moved during that first year.

Anyhow, back to school today, and I think it's homework revision every night from now on..... Argh
