Tutoring: What's a reasonable fee to charge for KS1/2 and Dyslexia lessons?

Hello,
I have recently relocated to the area and am continuing offering home tuition, privately. I've been teaching 25 years plus, with a Master's degree in SEN and I am currently full-time teaching here. I want to grow my private tutoring business here but what do local mums feel is reasonable for a fee, given my expertise and experience?

• standard 1 hour lessons?
• specialist teaching for pupils with Dyslexia and/or other learning difficulties?
• What would additional reasonable charges be for visiting child's home given travel time/fuel etc?
• Would you as parents prefer to visit my home or have me visit yours?

Hi Dionne, are you PATOSS qualified? That would be the first thing I would look for in a tutor for my dyslexic children.
I prefer tutors that come to my house as I have other children. Fees depend on the local area. It might be worth checking the PATOSS website as if you were a parent and contacting other tutors to find out what they charge.

Yes PATOSS or AMBDA for dyslexia teaching IMHO.

As a tutor (with Dyslexia PG qualification) I prefer to teach in my own home - I have so many resources I can reach for at home, plus I know I'll be teaching in a quiet area with a table that's a good height etc.

I teach in school at the moment so I'm not doing any outside tutoring.
