I found it is quite difficult to buy present fo my DS2 now, he doesn't play with toys anymore. He only plays computer games, neff gun( which he has lots already), board games. We talked about Christmas present, he doesn't have any ideas himself except some computer games.

What have you bought?

I have got my ds alot of DVDs. A lot of his favourite movies came out on dvd recently. He is a star wars fanatic so he is getting lots of star wars figures and toys. I know he wont really play with them and it is a total waste of money getting them for him but there really was nothing else to get him.

My ds is quite sporty so he is also getting a basket ball hoop and swingball.

It is hard isnt it?

Autumnsky · 16/12/2016 11:22

Thanks, grafia. DVDs is a good idea, I will try to find some. Yes, there are mountain of toys in the house, I am trying to stop buying and gradually get rid of the ones in the house.

If he likes board games do you buy the conventional ones - Monopoly etc - or go more niche?

There are hundreds of really really cool games which never get to supermarkets and toy shops etc.

Have a look on www.boardgamegeek.com

Autumnsky · 16/12/2016 12:05

Thanks,GertudeBelle. I will have a look. We have chess, Monopoly, Risk at the moment.

Ds2 has asked for a portable dvd player with 'a twisty screen' as he put it so he's getting that. Also, a ramp for his scooter plus some dr who stuff, remote control dalek and sonic screwdriver. He's also got some game related clothes, minecraft jumper and cap and a tshirt with something else on can't remember what now!

GizmoFrisby · 16/12/2016 12:31

My son got one of the twisty screen DVD players last year. They are a great present

Guadalupe · 16/12/2016 12:37

Is it good, Gizmo? I haven't actually got it yet, still dithering over how much to spend. Tempted by the £40 ones but not sure what the quality will be...

MiladyThesaurus · 16/12/2016 12:38

DS2 (in Y3) is getting:

Pokémon sun (and the Pokémon sun/moon guide book)
A Star Wars Lego set
The chronicles of ancient darkness books
Some Phoenix comic books
A Pokémon card set (rayquaza ex)
Pokémon PJs

The PILs have got him super mario maker 3DS.
My mum has got him Lego Star Wars: the force awakens for the DS.

ThreeHens · 16/12/2016 12:45

GizmoFrisby · 16/12/2016 12:52

Guadalupe

Yes he watches films most days on it. I think his was around £80 but it's a really good one. He likes the idea of being able to do it all himself

Guadalupe · 16/12/2016 14:14

Thanks, Gizmo. What make did you go for if you don't mind me asking? Good to get a recommendation!

bettycat81 · 16/12/2016 19:25

My DS is 7 but I bought him a basketball hoop in the hope it will last a good few years!

MrsHathaway · 16/12/2016 19:39

MP3 player, dock and headphones. He's just getting into pop music.

Some Pokemon stuff (book, onesie, plush).

Rubiks Cube / chocolate / socks etc in stocking.

BlueChampagne · 16/12/2016 22:15

BlueChampagne · 16/12/2016 22:16

TheRadiantAerynSun · 16/12/2016 22:20

A kindle fire
A bladebuilders spinning lightsabre set
Star wars jammies
An x-box game
A kids cookbook
The latest diary of a wimpy kid book.
A selection box

That's it I think.
