Last day of primary school, do you think this would be a nice gesture to the staff?

Hi, my daughter will be leaving primary school this year. She's actually the only one in her class leaving, as she's a year 6 pupil in a year 5 class, due to her special needs. She will be skipping year 6.
Anyway, She has had such a happy time at her primary school and all of her teachers and support staff have been brilliant. Every year, I buy a small gift for her class teacher, her one to one assistant and the TA. As she's leaving this year, I'd love to do something for the whole staff team, as I think so many important people get missed out usually.
What do you think of having a big cake made saying Thank you (name of the school) ? Then a nice card thanking everyone? I thought they could then share it on their break? What do you think?? Please be honest! It is a small school with one class per year group.
Thanks. Smile

I think that's a lovely idea and will be very much appreciated by everyone.

I'm a teacher, and home made cake goes down very very very well in the staff room. Last day of term can be a bit crazy though! Might be worth popping it in at the beginning of the week! x

Sounds like a lovey idea and in our staff room cakes were always welcome!
Maybe send it in at the start of the last week though rather than actual last day as things can get a bit crazy on last day and everyone brings food!

Cross post with Fiddlerontheroof!

Thanks everyone! I'm glad you all think it's a good idea. Smile 1st day of the last week it is then. Sounds sensible.

Sounds lovely but maybe take it in a day before the last day so that the can eat it all.

We love getting cake for the staff room and would be very grateful!

I can only repeat what others have said- it's a lovely gesture and the staff will really appreciate it.

Ever seen the running of the bulls? That's what it's like at our place whenever someone mentions cake.

chuffinalong · 28/06/2016 10:16

Haha! That's brilliant. Thanks everyone. I'm going to order it today and take it in at the beginning of the last week. Smile

I know you've decided, but I just wanted to add what a gorgeous idea I think that is. Good luck to your DD in her new school.
