Anyone with daughters at Bute House, Falkner House, or Kensington Prep? For the 4+, where did your dd go to nursery? We live in Chiswick. Thanks a million! Kitty

That's quite a commute from Chiswick to Parsons Green or South Ken. Would you move? Do you want a nursery near where you live so you have a local network of friends/play dates etc or are you wanting to put your DD into nursery near these prep schools. They are all selective (although Bute is a ballot, with priority for siblings), so do you have a non selective back up? Sorry for more questions than answers!!

Ideally I would like a nursery near where I live, because nursery is a bit young for a commute. I have a non selective option as well, we just don't know yet where we would like dd to go, and ultimately where she'll be accepted

There aren't nurseries that "feed" into these schools. Best thing you can do is to find the best one within acceptable distance - make the life easier for all. And encourage your child, stimulate her, read to her, etc.

Thanks icebunny6, MMmomDD. Any good nursery you would recommend around Chiswick by any chance? Cheers

Bute house does a ballot at 4+ so it really doesn't matter. You would find that children come from a wide variety of nurseries. I would just look at all the ones that are close to you, have good outdoor space, highly qualified staff and ideally an outstanding Ofsted rating.

Thank you sanam 2010

Try www.mybaby.com which is really fantastic website run by a Chelsea mum with lots of info for babies/nursery age children.

For general advice on the top prep schools (& nurseries) in and around RBKC there is also www.knightsbridge-village.com. It's an interactive website with a private forum full of mums with kids at the sorts of schools you mention so will get insider knowledge. They also publish interviews with headteachers eg the heads of Falkner House, Pippa Poppins, Knightsbridge School etc. You have to pay to subscribe and it is quite expensive so think carefully whether you'll use it before joining up!

Pippa popins is sending around 10 girls every year to Ken prep so I guess they are preparing well to the assessment but it is really expensive. My daughter attend a simple daycare in west Brompton and passed the assessments straight away as Glendower prep and was waitlisted at FH.
important things is that they are confident and happy to go to school I think

I agree re: Pippa Poppins. Ladybird nursery in South Kensington also has many girls getting offers to Falkner House and Glendower.

OP all the schools you mentioned are on my wish list for my daughter. We didn't given too much thought on which nursery to send her. Perhaps that was naive but I also think that it probably doesn't matter too much a long as the child is engaged and appears teachable and bright at the assessment. Here's hoping..

KittyIsHungry · 16/05/2017 16:31

I have actually changed tack on that subject. And am sending my daughter to a local nursery hoping she will be bright enough to make it at the assessment. She's too young to feel that sort of pressure I feel

Stumbled across this thread whilst researching Bute House. You make a really good point Kittyishungry. I agree.
