Monday for my borough's admissions. Am so nervous. DD is ASD so her mainstream placing is "worst case" scenario for us. Our first choice is rated Outstanding, with a great SENCO and policy. Also just 10 min walk away. They have an autism unit on site - we are hoping she gets a place in that but that process will be decided on by a separate panel, out of our hands (she has EHCP).
All the schools in our area are so heavily oversubscribed, particularly our first choice. So worried she gets assigned another school, not suitable and more out of the way commute wise.

Hersetta427 · 15/04/2016 15:22

Zoe does that mean they only offered sibling places and none based on distance? If that is the case I imagine you must be very close to the top of the list, but I guess the bad news is that if everyone was a sibling then there may not be much movement to the list as everyone will accept the place where an older sibling attends.

Checking back in. I've been on holiday this week so my mind has been taken off schools somewhat. Back to being a nervous wreck now! zoe really sorry you didn't get first choice 😞

ShowOfHands · 15/04/2016 15:59

Oh Zoe. Sad Don't despair yet though. I hope you find a resolution.

I had dinner with friends last week and one has a dd due to apply for reception this autumn. She asked advice. I underlined the use your choices, all of them, put one you WILL get, see it as preference, not choice etc. Other friend piped up "oh just put one and they have to give it. That's what we did. Don't let them think you'd accept anything else." She lived next to the school ffs. I'm going to e-mail my friend later.

ShowOfHands · 15/04/2016 16:22

Just went to check our council's website in case they're super organised.

They have no record of my e-mail address. Wazzocks. I have multiple fecking emails from them confirming application.

VinS1 · 15/04/2016 16:24

Hi Ladies!

Same here... nervous about the results!
Have to wait till the 18th Monday.
Hmm any idea what time we get the emails with offers??

hummm cant really hold the nervousness and excitement as its my DS1 (hoping he gets into the school of out first priority-fingers crossed!)

Gizlotsmum · 15/04/2016 16:26

Not sure about emails but know we can login and see the results from ( I think 00:00) on Monday

ShowOfHands · 15/04/2016 16:32

Check your council's website. Depends where you are. We won't be e-mailed until late afternoon on the 18th.

drspouse · 15/04/2016 16:37

It depends on your area what time, and indeed day, they let you know.

Annoyingly a friend in a neighbouring LA applied for a school in our LA and she's heard she got in today, though our LA isn't announcing to us till tomorrow.
(They are right on the border so clearly eligible for the school, just frustrating!)

Just popping on this thread to wish people luck. I did last year with my eldest and it was nerve wracking.
Also wanted to reassure those that had made 'less popular' choices. I work in education and there is some evidence that a school maintains it's reputation for seven years after it has gone down hill. It's much harder for a previously difficult school to repair it's reputation but reputation doesn't necessarily reflect the education. We put down a school that went from special measures to outstanding (though OFSTED wasn't our reason for choosing). The school was absolutely incredible but most parents didn't either bother looking. The 'desirable' school was tired, defensive and staff didn't really care. But it's in a naice bit of our scruffy bit of London and lots of parents assumed it was good. We have been on the tip of the curve and there has been a lot more parents viewing it this year and choosing it. We have been very happy

VinS1 · 15/04/2016 17:08

Oh just checked the local council website and it says :
Emails will be sent during the evening of national offer day (18 April 2016).
huhh evening?? how hard would that day feel like to pass! Confused :(

MissesBloom · 15/04/2016 17:14

So sorry zoe that's shit. Hope it all sorts itself and you are at the top of the waiting list.
We got an email today saying late afternoon we will be told. Herts here. Dreading it. So worried. Good luck all

smellyboot · 15/04/2016 17:20

I would also advise not panicking about your allocation unless logistically it's a total nightmare like Zoeq. Having done it first time round a couple of years ago in a highly over subscribed area, things do tend to work out for people. Quite a lot of people I know didn't get 1st preference. 70% stayed where they were given and now love their schools and the rest got into a higher preference by Oct of reception. In our area DC continue to move schools all the way up. Even people desperately unhappy with their allocation eg. Due to long distance away end up moving when a preferable space comes up nearer home
Zoeq - I also hope things resolve themselves for you

FamilyC · 15/04/2016 18:24

I was hoping to find out if my year 2 child had a place at the nearest school after being on the waiting list. Two kids left before Easter, I have heard nothing.

Now waiting on Monday to find out about reception for my youngest. The councils know. I am assuming they are still not working on the allocation this weekend, so it is during me crazy that I have to wait till Monday. Why cannot I just forget about it 😄

zippyswife · 15/04/2016 18:36

I can't forget about it either!! And even though I have a newborn too
And am
Sleep deprived I will stay up until midnight on Sunday night just to log in and find out (if it's not what I want I doubt I will sleep at all that night- I didn't for dc1 last year!).

alien11 · 15/04/2016 18:41

I've got a 6 month old zippys so up most of the night anyway! Can't sleep worrying as it is

alien11 · 15/04/2016 18:50

Anyone else in Kent?

zippyswife · 15/04/2016 19:24

Yes I'm the same alien. I just want to know now... Although if it's not what I want to hear maybe it could wait another week...!

alien11 · 15/04/2016 19:41

Haha yes totally with that thinking. Our top school is only 0.25 miles away and my dream outcome would be a place for her there

zippyswife · 15/04/2016 19:49

Best of luck alien. Sounds like you have a good chance. I need to get ds2 into the same outstanding faith school 3.5 miles away (that I didn't put as my first choice last year and was shocked that I got over my very average local school). I won't relax until Sunday.

zippyswife · 15/04/2016 19:50

Sorry I meant same school as ds1..

alien11 · 15/04/2016 20:04

Fingers crossed!!
Oh there's not much chance of her getting too choice as its over subscribed and people 0.1 miles in didn't get in last year, 12 siblings for a class of 30 this year too

zippyswife · 15/04/2016 20:17

Oh no alien! It's a joke isn't it?

MuM342012 · 15/04/2016 20:47

I should be getting an email at midnight tonight or just after.
-1st choice is my second nearest school, outstanding and over subscribed and my favourite from looking around and talking to the teachers.
-2nd choice is third nearest school a really good school.
-3rd choice is fifth nearest school -4th choice is the nearest school

I hope everyone gets what they are wanting x
