Alderley Edge School for girls

I am looking at Alderley Edge school for girls and other Independent schools in South Manchester for my DD who will start in Juniors. I am finding it minefield in deciding where she will flourish both socially and academically.
I have heard that Alderley edge for Girls is not very academic however on my visit seems to have a good working ethos.
Does anybody have any recent experiences of the school they can advice on? I do want my DD to have the choice of moving to a different school at 11 so I am concerned that she may not be academically equipped to make that change. Also is it very Cheshire blingy?
Are there any recommendations on other schools?
Does anybody have any experience of Moor Allerton in didsbury?

Have you been on the elevenplus website? There is a forum section that deals specifically with Trafford and there is a section on independents too which might be useful.

Our daughters both went to Wilmslow Prep and absolutely loved it. Not the biggest but for us we felt it had a really lovely feel. Smaller classes so lots of attention and so friendly. They have always had great results for all the south Manchester senior schools' entrance exams at 11 (& Trafford). Our two went to Withington at 11 but had all the choice they needed. You can't beat your natural instinct for the feel of a school and you will know pretty quickly if it's right for your child. So go and have a look at them all. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend WPS. They were in the top 10 preps in the country in the Telegraph a few weeks ago. But you can't beat going and seeing for yourself. Good luck

Any advice on AESG for my daughter who is academically capable but highly anxious. She has missed a huge chunk of year 10 and we have lost confidence in her current state school.
