Why are MNers so coy about naming their local brilliant state primary school?

Especially the London ones?

I notice on lots of threads about Primary schools, plenty of people are happy to wax lyrical about the plethora of facilities, quality of education, facilities etc etc of their local primary, but stop short of naming it.

I notice this most often on the London primary school threads. Why is this?

If you're happy with your DC primary school and can rave about it, why don't you name it?

Because it outs people? I wouldn't say on here which school DD goes to as it locates me fairly clearly (small catchment area!). Some schools have a catchment of about 100 metres in each direction.

Because it outs you. My DCs primary has 34 in a year. Someone named it once, said her DS went there in that year, that narrowed it down to boys. Said she had a DD three years older, bingo, knew straight away who she was.

^^ exactly this. Don't want to be pinned down to a geographical location. Plus... I love my dc's school. It isn't popular or oversubscribed. Just because I love it because it's suited my children and they have thrived, doesn't mean I'd recommend other people move here or jump through hoops to go there, because my feelings about the school are mine - I wouldn't expect all children and all parents to feel uniformly delighted. Know lots of children at lots of different schools. They all have their strengths and weaknesses and other schools locally which are the popular ones, with parents being terribly happy this dcs go there, aren't necessarily better than our school.

I guess (and I'm totally guilty of this) there's so many threads where it's all about where a school goes wrong... It's so tantalising when a MNer starts raving about their local school and the you can't work out which one it is!
