Nativity play - costume moan (effing white trousers)

My (4yo, summer baby) son is an angel in the school's nativity play.

His school have sent a note home asking for us to send in a white tshirt and pair of white trousers (or tights/leggings - I assume for girls?) by next Friday.

Unsurprisingly white trousers for 4 year old boys aren't terrifically popular. All I can find is cricket whites (which are £££). I've tried looking for pyjamas, at least that way he will get more that one wear out of them, but no joy.

Another annoying thing is that he hates being the focus of attention so I fully expect him to be hiding in the background. So far he's been refusing to attend rehearsals (I have a sneaking admiration for him here). If they can convince him to get on stage it'll be a Christmas miracle!

Anyone got any suggestions / ideas where I can get trousers from? I had a baby 11 days ago so online ideally!

I have a pair of white karate trousers

Have you asked the mums at school if they have any spares you can borrow?

With a newborn and two others under 5, I can barely correctly make a ham sandwich! Grin All sorted from Tesco thankfully (costume AND ham sandwich).

Zara have some nice camo PJs: m.zara.com/uk/en/kids/boy-%7C-4-14-years/underwear-and-pyjamas/camouflage-pajamas-c276011p2776749.html

Just the bottoms though. Camouflage onesie might be worth a Google.

Good luck!

I may have a camo shirt but if not I've got a set of camo neckerchieves/bandanas

At least you know what you need to get. We haven't been told yet, but then again, our school asked for money for a storyteller 3 weeks in advance, but only asked on Friday night for costumes for a Tuesday. I only found out on Sunday morning!

Thanks everyone!

I have seen the eBay onsie, going to check on Monday if that would be ok.

Reluctant to spend too much on camo gear that won't be needed afterwards!

Camouflage is taking the mick a bit, it's not really something that people tend to have, or can find easily - and cheaply.

I got a set of army style & a couple of csmo shirts from Primark a few years ago (but it was during the summer months) - itvwas for the elephant army in jungle book!

I stuck a pair of white shorts (loads of people have football or rugby shorts that you might be able to borrow) over a pair of white leggings when DS was a sheep.

FloweryPowery · 15/11/2015 21:11

Honestly if the onesie is vaguely pale I'm sure it'll be fine.

We were asked for yellow top & bottom when DS was a star. Teacher had assumed we'd understand that white, beige, silver, gold etc would all be near enough! Batman PJs, anything goes!
