i have bought my 7 yr old DS some age 9 school trousers from Sainsburys which are too long and too tight round the waist. Anyone had the same problem? All and any advice much appreciated! TIA

M & S have adjustable waisted trousers, if that would help.

BHS generous fit. they are the right length for my DS age wise, but give him more room round the waist. Pretty good quality too.

IME BhS are great for school trousers in varied measurements - they have charts in store where you can find the length / waist that you want and then find the appropriate trousers, and have short, standard and long lengths as well as 'larger fit' trousers with larger waist measurements. They have adjustable waists for fine adjustments, too.

M&S are often very generously cut, too (I have the opposite problem with DS of very long legs and small waist size, and M&S is one place we learned to avoid).

Thank you so much Christina, seeline and teacher for your replies! I went straight to bhs and got age 7 generous fit which fit perfectly! You saved me a very stressful afternoon of buying age 10-11 trousers and banging on my mum's door asking her to take them up, which would have been my next move, so thank you!

I also got ds's from bhs. I also got higher aged trousers from tesco but in a shorter length e.g. They were age 10-11 but shorter length. His bhs generous fit ones were for age 8
