Have any year 3 DCs achieved exceedings (or equivalent) and if so...

what 'old money' level did they have at the end of year 2.

So many threads with parents worrying, I've started wondering: if a child achieved 3b last year have they exceeded this year, if not how about a 3a?

What end of KS1 level in the old curriculum might result in an exceeding in the new curriculum?

I know they are different but mostly it's just drawing down from year's above. Presumably a child that was far enough ahead in the old curriculum could, theoretically, expect to exceed in the new from year 3?

Dd achieved 2a in writing and 3's in maths and reading. Now 3a in reading and 3c's in maths and writing. Not happy, surely maths should have improved more than it has?

There is a new curriculum, smellslikemenspirit, and the new maths curriculum is much harder than the old one.

Thanks raptorclaw, I've heard this is the case but school haven't sent anything home or discussed it with us.

I was a little surprised at dd's results.

She got all Level 3s last year at the end of Year 2. This year she got mainly 'secures' in English and Maths with a couple of 'exceedings' in a few sub categories.

Shouldn't an able child be getting more exceedings at this stage?

Dancergirl · 21/07/2015 18:02

Does it mean that dd hasn't made much progress this year?

Just looked at dd's report again: out of 18 sub categories in Literacy she got 4 exceedings and the rest secure.

In Maths, 2 exceedings and 13 secures. Yet she got all Level 3s last year....?

DS1 was a secure 2b across the board in SATs last year. Since joining new school in year three he's apparently progressed by 3 years in reading and writing age, but he's still only "working towards" on his full report, not even within, on anything. He's 8, has a reading and writing age of 11.5 years but he's not even on the average level. It all baffles me.
