Pleat front or flat front? I have no idea having never bought formal trousers before. Is one better or easier or more practical to look after than the other or is it just a style thing. (this is a 5yr old boy - he won't care).

I haven't found any difference in quality between Tescos and M&S trousers for DS. I bought one BHS pair with re-enforced knees and these are the only pair that look worn after nearly a year's wear. The Tesco and M&S ones still all look pretty much as new.

I've always bought Sainsbury's trousers (and shirts and polos).
They keep their shape and don't look worn out by the end of the year (unlike some of the others I tried - Debenhams, Tesco being the worst offenders).
only problem is that I don't think they go beyond age 14 so my tall 11 yo will have to make do with m&s

Flat front

I get m&s school trousers and skirts for my 3 and they last all year for us.

And I think there is currently 20% off M&S school uniform.

DSs Re now 16 and 14 and I've never found any correlation between how they last and what "quality" they are. They all went through at the knees through football, the hems all came down and often they split along the crotch seam under the zip (I do not want to know why!).

Don't forget everyone that spare/used uniform is needed on the School Uniform Bank thread

Where is this as I will have things ds3 has outgrown and he is not at all hard on clothes.
