DS2's teacher did most of the talking. But I had planned to ask:
How is he socially? Has he settled in OK? Does he play with other children besides his best friend?
How is he coping with the writing? (There is a lot more writing etc in Y1)
Anything we need to worry about?
And please make sure he chooses something other than a baked potato for lunch sometimes.

You might also want to ask about reading and numeracy, if she doesn't tell you. Teachers are usually pretty vague though, and say general things like "he's towards the top" or "he's coming along very nicely with his X,Y or Z" .

WE recently had our parents evening for our dd2 in year 1. I was wondering what to ask, we all know our children really well, I really wanted to find out how well the teacher had got to know mt dd2 in the first 6 weeks of the school year. my dd2 is quite shy in large groups and with adults, and I worry she will blend in to the background even thopuh she is quite bright and doing well with her reading and writing.

I was very impressed that the teacher opened up with a lovely comment about my dd2, which summed her up perfectly. this opened up the questions quite easliy, and also put my mind at rest about her participation in the class room.

Hi
I have first parents' evening next Tuesday she is in pre-prep (ages 3-4). I will also like to she what her teachers have made of her. She is very assertive at home and chatty and quite acaedemic for a 3 year old, She seems to like school, she has just finshed her first 6 weeks, but says she does nothing all day - which I understand is common.

Still, I don't know about others but I always feel as if I am on parade during these sessions!

Well it was over in minutes!
Teacher said she was a joy, the kind of child you wanted 30 of in the class, very able...
[mega-proud mum emoticon]
I only asked whether she was okay socially, and one question about ORT, then we were out.
The teacher was obv. desperate to get home to her baby - can't blame her really.
