As per thread title really - my 4 yo DD's class are doing fairytales in school and they will end the term with a fancy dress ball and banquet. We are asked for food contributions - any ideas for something fun that could grace a children's banquet table?

Chop up some basic sandwiches into eighth size triangles instead of quarters, for fairies and assorted little people to eat, maybe?

To be honest, I'm not sure I could stomach it now but as a child it was amazing! Sorry for misreading.. Some good ideas here, best of luck op

Some more thoughts:-

Cheese straws- rapunzel's hair

Gingerbread people decorated as Cinderella and the ugly sisters

Green sweets such as jelly tots as peas for the princess and the pea

Blueberries as magic beans- jack and the bean stalk (or jelly beans!)

Sandwiches cut out in 3 sizes for the 3 bears. Either bear shaped or just big, middle sized and tiny. In fact I would do them just 3 different sizes and label with a pic of each bear.

Food served on a platter covered with red napkins as Red Riding Hood's picnic for her gran.

Rapunzel's Mum's salad (crudités)

Yet more brilliant ideas - that fairy forest cake is WAAY beyond my capability but very inspiring :)

Fairy cakes! Butterfly cakes, biscuits with crushed boiled sweets baked in the centre like jewels.

Another vote for fairy bread here!

Porridge a la goldilocks?
Little bits of bread a la hansel and gretel
Magic beans Or giants food from jack and the beanstalk
Chocolate from Charlie and the chocolate factory (along the same lines as Alice in wonderland)

Fairy bread I think is a must given its popularity on this thread - you've won me over!

I'm also liking the magic beans as they've just done Jack and the Beanstalk.

Three little pigs-
Ham sandwiches
Sausages on sticks
Pork pies.

What a lovely idea, and what great suggestions I wish I was in reception and could go!
