If you wanted your child to go to Reading School, what primary would you send them to

Due to proximity I would love my pfb to go to the grammar school in Reading. I'm currently looking at primary schools for him. I have the money to go private, but I know nothing about the private system.

Can anyone suggest a good prep school, or give me positive stories of state educated primary going to Reading school please?

Apologies if my terminology is wrong. I know this is an emotive topic. I'm after a bit of information to help make my decisions. I want to give my pfb the best chance at life and I'd like to keep his options as open as possible. Obviously I have no idea of his aptitude or ability at the moment (I assume he would be able as his father and I are very very well educated from the state system)

If you want a few more years of 'idyllic' maybe have a look at St Andrews in Pangbourne. It is a lovely school.

I think your DS will do best if he is happy so maybe concentrate on getting the right 'fit' first. I would go and look at all the options that are logistically possible.

Thankyou CharlesRyder for the recommendation. I will take a look at it. I absolutely agree that ds will do best where happy. I have no idea how to assess where he fits best! As I am new to all this. I really really appreciate everyone's input.

I have recently had a look at Waverley and thought it was beautiful. Lovely environment. Not too big. Absolutely loved the music teacher. Reasonable fee's. My big concern at the moment is if a 'commute' is fair on a 4 year old?

I'll be at the st Edwards open day this week too.

Waverley School currently has a waiting list for R'15 and R'16 with some very positive and educational changes for September including a new Headteacher. Their Open Day today was the busiest I've seen it in years and they thriving as an Independent School.

Can not recommend Waverley Prep enough. Not only is it 9th in the times top 100 prep schools and top prep school in Berkshire. It is now thriving as a small independant prep school with cash in the bank. Providing an education for over100 school aged pupils gaining above and beyond the national averages in SATs.-
