Have been put on waiting lists for both of these. Is there still a chance of getting a place at these schools?

I don't know about Connaught House, but probably a good chance with Hill House. Even by London standards of churn, it's got a high turnover because of the number of families who move internationally.

But as departing families rarely remember to remove their DC from the lists, and those who have this as fall-back won't decide until they hear from first choice school, places might not free up until they (and all other preps) are actually sending offers letters. IIRC, it's usually December of the year before entry when most reception offers are made.

Hill House--don't worry about it. I've never seen anyone NOT get a place.

Normally it's true about Hill House and you are likely to get a place off a waiting list. Last year, however, they had too many applicants, such that even siblings had to be "interviewed". Some didn't even get a place right away.

Have no idea how it is this year. But, there is a lot of movements in these lists until quite late in the game. Some people even put deposits in several places. And only let go of their multiple options just before the summer term starts - so as not to be liable for the first term fee.

Hang on there - the year before Reception is so stressful with the school choices!
